Re: Does Private Instruction seem like a good idea

Wow, this one went off topic fast, lol. Came back to see what the OP had said and we are talking attic fans and burning housed down. I needed a laugh for the night. Thank you for that.

Re: Does Private Instruction seem like a good idea

JustTheDad, A few thoughts. One on one private instruction is often the best training there is. As most know sometimes you can get lost in the masses in schools and paying someone to teach one on one or in a very small setting gives you the best bang for the buck. I believe that even if you didn't u...

Re: AWS Cert Cost

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it was Maryland Welding Technology. The only one within 2.5 hours driving distance. Not trying to bad-mouth them, just wanted to see if it was reasonable since I was shocked at the cost for a relatively simple service. Sure, companies have to make money so was expecting...

Welding Tips & Tricks Podcast Stubby Episodes

For those who might not know, we have started a new segment on the Welding Tips & Tricks Podcast we call "Stubby" episodes that are 10 mins or less where we address some of the questions we get. This allows a short, digestible episode and honestly allows us to give a little more back t...

Richard,
I thought Jody did a great job on that one too! I didn't get to listen to it until it was live and was impressed and glad at all he said.

Re: Need help with MIG - welding cast iron

Can you post up a pic of what you are welding? That would make it a lot easier to offer help.

Off cuff, I would say just mig weld it BUT that would depend on the use of said part. If it will see torque it will likely fail.

Re: Welding Tips & Tricks Podcast

I meant a disconnect because the podcast guys don’t participate in the forum much. There is little to no connection between the podcast and forum. Good example of the disconnect. I was told to email Jody and them about Patreon. Wouldn’t you think I could just ask here? And we got to pay money to he...

To all, We announced this to our Patron supporters and now it's time to announce this here. In addition to the weekly full length episode (which could turn into more each week?) we are getting ready to launch what we are calling "Stubby" episodes. These will be around 10 mins each where we...

JayWal,
I don't know why you didn't just put more silicone on it. I mean, more is better isn't it?

JK, that sucks but good job on the repair.

Re: Shoot the breeze

Hey Jonathan Recently became a Scout Merit Badge counselor for the welding merit badge, had 4 students (2 at a time) so far. They have to weld beads on plate, then do a butt, lap and tee joint on steel. The guys have done better then I (worried) thought they would. It's cool to watch them learn thi...

Yes, it's amazing how many actually look and compliment the website. I never thought it would generate so much interest when I first started the site. Now it's a key part of my business.

I have been meaning to get back on the forum and post some things up but have been focused on the business and other things in life. I check in from time to time or if there are problems though. It is nice to see things are still alive on the forum. It's weird though getting on and seeing all the ne...

It's been quite a while since I've posted here and figured it was time to get back in the game so to speak and reconnect with this community. I see a lot of new names on here, which is awesome, and am happy to see some names that were here when I was more active. I've been super busy with the busine...

Panchdara, CK Worldwide is in fact Worldwide. As stated earlier, it wouldn't even be cost effective for Weldmonger to ship international. And, CK already has distributors elsewhere. If you would like I will give you the email address of a few that can help you fill your TIG torch need. Send me a PM....

Artie, Thank you very much! It's been a long time coming but I finally made the jump. So far it has been a blast and a learning curve. You think you have it all figured out and something new comes your way (or more specifically difficult customers). On this note, the next episode, 61 or 62 depending...

Re: Help learning MIG welding

Looking good for first beads. Looks like you have LOF (lack of fusion) at the toes of the weld. Looks to be caused from too much wire speed for your given voltage and/or the lack of mill scale cleaning. Keep it up bud!

Re: Macro Test Opinions

In my opinion, all of those are technically acceptable. You not only have fusion but nice depth of fusion. It looks like your first bead on that practice coupon was bottom left and last bead bottom right. You can tell from the growing depth of your penetration (although you could have been turning t...

Richard, I hope you get to attend. We need to at least get to chat for a few mins. The parking will be no issue. The business across the street lets John use their parking lot. Plenty big. This will be the biggest year so far. Crazy how many people will be there. Makes me kinda nervous doing the wel...
