there should be a clear protective insert that snaps into the 4 little plastic thingies. they are pretty common size for the everyday auto adjust lens.

Re: Tig welding 6061-t6 aluminum 1/8” flat bar tee joint
Make sure the material is cleaned with stainless steel wire brush and wiped with acetone or alcohol. I would turn down the freq to about 95/100 (giving a wider arc cone) and turn up the amps. Hold the torch so the tip is close and leaning so you are pushing the puddle, when it appears within a few s...

Re: First Mistake - New to TIG
Hi Jeff. I've been following this thread A LOT. Just wondering IF you are suffering from light sneaking inside your shield from behind . But anyway, as stated by others, it will take time to get accustomed to the learning curve of TIG welding. Keep practicing on just running beads, then add filler. ...

Re: Building New Shop looking for ideas
Buggy is right about the new lights. First he turned on the old shop lights then he turned on the LIGHT, which above the welding table. Turned that area into daylight while the rest of the shop was under the old lights. One thing that I didn't pay close attention to was shadows, but who the hell wor...

Re: Never welded Aluminum but now I must.
IF you have a speed adjustable grinder, turn the speed down. The aluminum will gum up the disc. I usually use bees wax on the disc to help aleviate the the gumming. Wipe the area to clean the grindings...some use acetone and some use alcohol (the rubbing kind). You will also want to determine IF the...

Re: best welding table for beginner
I attended an auction where trade schools sell the projects and picked up a welding table made by the students for less than I could buy the steel. Northern tool has a Klutch "convertible" welding table. The tall legs can be removed and it can be set on top of a bigger table. It isn't &quo...

Re: Gas lens sound difference
shouldn't be a difference in sound unless your ears are that sensitive. The difference you should be seeing is how the gas lens is spreading the gas flow over a wider area without distorting the puddle.

welcome aboard, drizzit. Can't wait to read about your experiences with different welds ... aluminum, silicone bronze and stainless. Can you enlighten as to the difference in volts and wfs for the above mentioned? Instead of burning material and filler, some help would be appreciated on this end.

Re: Arc Instability, arc control, electrode parameters on Aluminium
I just now watched that video, tweake. There is another video by Jody where he is doing some testing and I believe he is using a rotator and no filler. Kind of thinking he was testing various tungstens. I'll admit that I'm far from smart enough to drive this electronic stuff to "find" that...

it seems to me that the higher the frequency, the more distinguished the feathers (secondary arcs) became. Jody had a video of that happening and he couldn't explain it.

What BArt said but also, you stated that you were driving an everlast prior to the lincoln. I'm not for certain but does the balance adjustment adjust the opposite of the everlast? Try turning the balance knob closer to the 3 O'clock position.
