Re: Learning Mig/Mag welding is confusing

Oh and ditch the 15AK and get a 24KD MIG gun. Worlds better, and you can get proper consumables. Contact Tip recess is less than ⅛".

Re: Learning Mig/Mag welding is confusing

That bit of info at least relays the extremes, well approaching the extremes. The window isn't that wide, so knowing those extremes will automatically get you right in the ballpark for a given WFS. For WFS, Jody already laid it out for you. It's on the weldingtipsandtricks.com website: MIG Welding ...

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. Had a 2 week break between quarters at school. Didn't even touch my home torch over the school break. This is the fan I've been using. Works great! https://i.postimg.cc/0N79cwz0/ryobi-jobsite-fans-pcf02kn-64-600.jpg So long as it doesn't blow away the shielding g...

Re: ? on a prospect

If you want to use axial spray transfer, you need a heavy duty MIG gun with large contact tips, IMO of course. Amperage ratings may be deceiving if they are intended for short circuit. Spray and pulsed-spray "de-rate" the MIG gun about 25%, usually. So go up 25% from the get-go, and you'd ...

HTP has ALL Invertig's on sale Aug 8 - Sept 8

Just got this in my email sales flyer today in the morning, maybe it can help some of y'all who might not know about it. Appears they have a lot of stock to move! Considering Miller and Lincoln pricing as of late, makes these an even greater deal & value for the dollar! This made me check what t...

Re: Bondo Instead of Excessive Filler?

This also occurred to me when I was building my 8ft tall MIG cart. I was using mostly 14/16ga 1½" square tubing, and in a few places, I realized that welding out every single joint would have been overkill and also lead to more distortion. I ended up leaving some of them un-welded and simply le...

So what did you end up going with? I'm still a fan of the 982c's but will eventually transition to the 982cx pro.

Re: Mig Welder Settings

If you do trial and error, you will get the best picture of how your machine behaves. Get some relatively thick scrap, perhaps 3/16" so that you can run medium/heavy test beads. Start in the middle for voltage, and then go up and run test beads at each setting. Carefully observe the tip of the ...

Re: What Gases Should I Buy for MIG?

I doubt that machine has the balls for spray, it's just not meant for it; so I don't think youbneed anything other than C25. You can run solid wire and perhaps 035 gas shielded flux core, if it has enough voltage.

Still working on making the stand, but the tables are done. I have about ±0.008 per 12" on the diagonal, which was the worse offender; there were two "bumps" that were quite difficult to get minimize. Along the 4ft lengths, it is better than that, and the short 3ft sides even better, ...

Re: Help, need feed back on a HTP invertig 221 tig welder

The P80 works great. I love how it only needs 11 amps on 400V/3-phase so I can take it to the backyard on a 35 meter 16/4 cord and still have full power available. However, it will be most likely delegated to a CNC plasma table once I get it set up. The S300 is just as nice, and weirdly it doesn't &...

Ok thanks. Doesn't sound like it would be compatible with a miller pedal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Miller pedals are available in both 7-pin and 14-pin configurations. I won't promise you that either the seven-pin is compatible, though it likely is, or that the resistance of the potentiom...

Don't ask me a bunch of questions! (Ruark, circa April 2022 ) Yes over-clamped, but not enough clamps is not enough clamps. :) I bought two, so I can use them side-by-side as a 4 x 6, but when I don't need that much area, I can just use one as a 3 x 4. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&am...

That arc was hitting that cup good. What do you mean by that? I've never heard of that term and don't even know what your seeing to determine that. I want to guess it's the colouration of the cup that's the visual factor? Yes, I was basing it off the assumption of the position of the tungsten. It l...

I would bet the majority of the programming adjustment is via the voltage. If you play around with the voltage adder/offset/multiplier/whateveritiscalled, I think you'd be able to get good results.

The "solar charging" only works if the battery isn't toast. Buy new battery(ies) and start fresh.
