Re: Shipping container frame rust repair
I see. Well if you're dead set on using that rod, don't go below 105A (tricky to run at times), and keep it under 130A, generally speaking. Also, we can't see just how well you cleaned the area. What did you use? Did you just use a hand brush? Fine-bristle cup wheel? If so, then I'd say that would b...

Re: Shipping container frame rust repair
So you are not able to cut out the affected areas and replace with good steel welded in place? I'm at a loss as to why you'd want to use stick welding as "body filler" material when cutting out and replacing seems much more sensible.

Yup thats the video he mentioned that had the testing. Personally I really like the Diablo cermet blades. Great value for the money.

Re: Stel S300 on a 400V, 3-phase up-converting transformer
Looks very nice. 200A @ 100% would cover about 100% of what 99.9% of people need. On the note of 3 phase, I'm doing an application right now to see about getting 480 3Ph in here. Looking at buying a machine that requires 1200A/480V service. I can't wait to hear what that's gonna cost. That's a lot ...

Re: Would anyone actually be interested to see a Benchmark Abrasives TCT blade tested out?
If you want to buy a blade to test out, I can't imagine anyone not wanting to hear a review on it. But I wouldn't buy one just for that. What RPM does that saw run at? Was it made specifically for metal cutting and runs at a slower speed like the chop saws do, or is it just a standard circular saw ...

I dont use flap discs anymore cause cubitrons are like 3 bucks a disc and flappies are 10 give or take. Important to note though if you mis use them they can grab a bit. Heck yea 3M Cub...

Re-posting from WW in case others want to see how I've gone about it. I actually posted this pic here helping someone else out some time ago. 100% self taught. Re: Plasma cutting table fume extraction questions
The smoke has a lot of particles that I think will clog up filters fast. It also creates a lot of Carbon monoxide that will set off detectors real fast. I think it would be best to dump directly outside your shop instead of filtration. I'm also getting ready to set up a cnc table, and will definitel...

Re: Mig welding at 28-30 volts not spray
The missing ingredient with MIG, as you probably already realized, is that it depends on the transfer mode. Spray Transfer and pulsed-spray are very high-energy processes that can weld thick sections if the power source is capable enough.

Re: Stainless flux core, worm hole
I am running 15 on gas flow I missed this part. With gas-shielded flux core wires that usually require a long stick-out, you need a large nozzle to get good coverage and thus need quite a bit of gas flow. IMO, you're skimping out on the gas flow by only using 15 CFH. Use a 5/8" cylindrical noz...

Then it might boil down to just that; that you ran them at the same amps, but perhaps one needed less amps. Or conversely, one needed more amps.

What I've seen is that Lincoln's need less amps to run smoothly. Did you run them both at the same amperage into the same exact joint?

Would you mind posting the wire size, what length stickout you are using, and what gas mix? Is the wire 304, 308, 309? I concur on all these points. Also, what is the class designation of the wire from the label on the spool? For example, mild-steel MIG wire is usually ER70S-6, Gas shielded flux co...

Re: Precision Metal cutting
Evolution does make a 10" sliding miter saw for steel, well actually multi-material. The RPM is slow enough that you can replace the low tooth-count blade that it comes with in favor of a steel cutting blade with a tooth-count that matches the material you are trying to cut. It has plenty of ad...

Hold the tip of the tungsten less than 1/16" from the material. You did not mention the orientation which is very important. Is the square tube standing on end, butted up against something else? The devil is in the details.

I have a CK Torch kit for sale. It's the TL 18/300 that came with my TIG welder, 25 ft leads with 9mm quick disconnects. It's very new, probably less than 3 hrs on it if you are interested. LMK if interested.
