Blower motors from a furnace are pretty easy to get. A phone call to a friend eho knew someone in HVAC got me 2 of them for free. It's usually the heat exchanger that goes before the motor.

Downdraft Table !!!

I always grind and plasma cut outside to keep the dust and fumes out if the garage. Problem is it sucks in the winter so i decided to try and build a downdraft table. I had most of the metal needed except for the .080" aluminum for the sides and some small angle......that i got from work. I use...

Plasma Cutting???

Ever since I bought my plasma cutter I have been using a standoff. Seeing some of Jody's videos i see he just places the tip to the metal (no standoff).

Is this common practice and does this effect the tip in any way?

Re: Mig wire cleaners

I use them. Cheap insurance IMHO. I had an issue with one mig welder that wouldn't feed. Turned out there was rust dust build up in the liner from the wire getting rusting. I had to use compressed air to clean out the liner. I am not saying I've seen these work......but I figure why not.

Re: Interesting Clamps !!!

I put about 4 pounds on the set up in the pics. The swivels slipped at that point. I would imagine that if you made the swivel plates out of 3/8" steel instead of aluminum and used 3/8" inch bolts you might be able to cinch the plates to hold. I never built these with holding anything inde...

If you find that the fix is an expensive one you could add a torch with a valve and bypass the problem.

Re: Beginning hobbyist in Pittsburgh

So far I have attempted fluxcore, stick, and tig. I hope to get a chance to try a torch for brazing. I have mostly been welding bits of scrap together just trying to figure out whatever I can. I am in the South Hills and am feeling the traffic woes of the Liberty bridge fire this week. I actually d...

They are tall.....but......with the way it can be adjusted it can go inches from the table. I also have shorter arms. I just got these finished but I think they will be very rigid......you can tighten the clamps up very tight. I built these primarily as a kinda third hand/arm. The original thread I ...
