Re: Footpedal issue when tig welding
On my everlast machine, I can set the machine to limit the top amperage that the peddle can reach. To me, it seems that the lower I set this top amperage the more control I get at low amps, Just make sure the top amperage is high enough to do the job.

Re: cutting 5" aluminum pipe [mast]
I have used a piece of paper several times wit good results. Marking the cut is only half the problem, making the cut is the other. I know hand tools are not the fastest, but, accuracy not speed is the main goal here so I would use a hand hacksaw. Block it up on several saw horses so it doesn't roll...

first time back purge Finally got set up to do back purging. The results amazed me. Even though it looks like I need more flow on the purging the sugaring disappeared. The joint welded easer, flowed better and much cooler. I have a hard time getting any color but grey on my stainless welds so the co...

Re: does ER70s6 tend to have some sparks
Just did another one. Switched to .040 tungsten and a #6 cup and it went better. I could not see any difference in prep but almost no sparkles and flowed better. First tries 1/16 tungsten and #8 cup since I keep reading that with a sharp point one of the larger tungsten will work well thin stock. I ...

does ER70s6 tend to have some sparks
I my quest to get better at welding thin material I tend to forage through old junk. Today I have been working with some small square steel tube from a desk lamp. About 10mm x10mm by .025 inch hall thickness. It welds but no mater how well I clean it, I still get sparkles as if mill scale is still t...

I am still new to TIG welding but I am improving just not there yet. Hopefully soon these concern...
