Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

I built a bolt together sifter for a skidsteer. Never build something like this before. It's not the best because the customer chose the materials and basic design. Several tons of dirt ran through it and it held up fine. It had to be bolted together to be able to fit in the back of a van. I would h...

44 inches of tig welding 1/2 at a time across the bottom of the panel. 45 inches to go across the top.
Would be a better project for a mig but I'm a glutton for punishment.

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Thanks to the square nature of the car, it's going pretty smoothly. I have about 3 hours into it and have gotten it this far.
I'm absolutely loving it. I so wish I had gotten into welding at 18 instead of 33.

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

On a whim I decided to make my parts car widebody. I have 0 experience with body work. I have about 1 experience welding.
I figured what could go wrong? I am pleased thus far.

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

I bought a wrecked car a few months ago with the intentions to turn it into a race car. Well, my daily driver caught on fire so I had to whip the project into shape in short order. What I started with. http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae348/nickminer82/car%20and%20welder_zps8zpotdn9.jpg In progres...

Is there a filter you can run to get rid of the moisture?

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

I only had a small piece of aluminum on which to try aluminum welding for the first time. So, I took a spare intake manifold, that was pretty nasty inside, and cut into it with a cut off wheel. I think it turned out ok considering how much oil and grease was on the inside. I wouldn't trust it to hol...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Made a grinder stand out of a tv stand I found in the desert. The main support is pretty sturdy. The base piece is really thin, but it will do until I can find an old wheel in the desert. It looks tall in the pic, but it's chest high. Just ran out my second small tank of argon ( second went quick be...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Someone left a shopping cart 15 feet from my house, so I set upon it with a grinder to relieve it of it's conveyance.

Not bad for a welder's first project made out of found items.

Re: Hello from Vegas.

As soon as I get one of my cars finished, I'll move my table inside. Right now, it barely fits in there with the door closed. I have had some welds messed up by small wind gusts already. I have a pair of maxiflex gloves, and they work sooooo much better for filler rod, like you said. I think my bigg...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

I only have a few hours of experience, so I figured I'd try making a welding cart out of some scrap I found in the desert. I still need to make a shelf for the tank, and find some wheels (going to snag some off of the shopping carts in the wash by the house). Overall, I am pleased with it. The metal...

Re: Hello from Vegas.

Our training center just moved to it's new location. The weld shop isn't quite ready yet. Once it is, I'll be in there every chance I get.
We don't get to go to the fancy international building except for leadership training that you have to be invited to.

Hello from Vegas.

Picked up a Tig/stick machine a couple weeks ago. Never welded before, but already addicted. I built that table so I could practice. I'm a union carpenter, commercial framing and drywall, so being able to stick weld will keep me employed when everyone else gets laid off. That's the whole reason I go...
