Re: I need help troubleshooting my everlasting powetig 250ex

If you disconnect the Tig torch, does the same thing happen? It sounds like a short circuit. I found the manual online. If it doesn't help, give Duncan or Jean a call 905-637-1637. http://www.everlastgenerators.com/sites/everlastgenerators/files/downloads/PowerTIG%20250EX%202016.pdf EVERLAST WELDER...

Re: I need help troubleshooting my everlasting powetig 250ex

Is the machine grounded? Go through and check to make sure all the connections are right. Also check the crimps on the gas lines. I had to tighten those for minor gas leaks from the factory. Soap all the gas connections. If all else fails give Everlast a call. They have been very responsive when I ...

I need help troubleshooting my everlasting powetig 250ex

So I was hoping to use my powertig 250ex today (first time ever using it or turning it on) but when I go to do so, the front panel on the machine lights up and the temp light and current light are on, and the machine won't work, has anyone else had this issue? Didn't find anything about it in the ma...

Re: Why is it this way?

Why on some machines, especially mig, does it have a digital display and an accurate readout but some have a number dial 1-10. A millermatic 252 has the digital but the 211 has the 1-10 settings. I find it is very difficult to set the machine especially using the Miller app. Why is it like bat and ...

Re: Ground hooked up to a neutral?

I recently put a 220 dryer plug on my AC stick welder and it keeps tripping the breaker. The dryer (and stove) receptical is a 3 prong with 2 hot and a neutral. The welder is 2 hot and a ground. When hooking up the dryer plug, I hooked ground to neutral thinking that it was a ground. Are they compa...

Re: Pipeliner helmet question

Adjust your headgear and/or stop (or remove it and just use tension). Depends where you work, overzealous safety officer may take issue with a modified hood if you cut on it. Tried that, at the moment it hits my throat when I do flat, all other positions are fine. If I adjust so it doesn't hit my t...

Pipeliner helmet question

Apologies in advance if I'm under the wrong forum thread but it's the closest thread that seems to fit this post. So I got a Honeywell fibre metal 110pwe. And I find that to weld on flat position the bottom of the hood doesnt allow me to put it as far down as I'd like. I've seen many people (I.e fie...

Re: CKWW mt200 welder thoughts.

Knowing what you will be welding would be helpful if you're looking for tig welder recommendations/advice, I personally went with the everlasting powetig 250 for 1,950$ cad. Haven't used it yet though.waiting on the 220 power to be put in, if it's a welder your thinking of getting let me know, and I...

Re: should i get 2 different water cooled torches?

You can do "scratch start" with any torch you have... Just don't hook up the remote (pedal or switch), and set the machine in the appropriate mode. My Everlast Power iMIG200, for example, has a MMA/TIG setting (which I've only used for stick, so far) that will permit scratch-start, and it...

Re: should i get 2 different water cooled torches?

what work do you do that would necessitate scratch start? If that question does not apply, then why do you think you need scratch start? fair point, just thought it would be good to have to practice with it, i probably wont be doing work by myself for the next year or so, so i guess if the time com...

should i get 2 different water cooled torches?

so, i just got my powertig 250ex today, it arrived, and it comes with a water cooled torch equipped with a torch switch, which i assume i can not plug in the torch and use my pedal on so its 2 in 1 (kind of), but my question is should i just keep that one for all uses, foot pedal and torch switch? o...

Re: Better to make a SS hammer or MS?

Just thinking, but it might be cheaper to have someone near a Metal Supermarket down here in the USA to ship you some remnants in a box, and declare them as "scrap metal" or something similar for customs. Useful scrap, but still scrap... That, and the fun fact that you can pack anything i...

Re: Better to make a SS hammer or MS?

If I understand correctly, the silicon bronze on the face of the hammer provides a "soft" striking surface to avoid leaving hammer strike marks, for instance. Correct? So if that's the case, then the hammer beneath the bronze is just the delivery mechanism, and carbon steel is likely the ...

hey, thought id throw in my two cents as im currently just passed the phase you're going through right now, bought all my rods for my new welder last week. for stick i'd say you cant go wrong with 7018 and 6011, and as someone previously said, 6013 can come in handy for thinner stuff, as for tig i s...

Better to make a SS hammer or MS?

im planning on making 3 hammers, and 2 for other people. i want to do as jody did, 1 with a soft surface (probably silicon bronze) and ill also use the same dimensions, the 1" round stock for handle and 2" for the head of the hammer, so my question as you can see in the title, is what shou...

What I would look for if you were my student: Consistency, within each stringer and from stringer to stringer. Filling in the crater at the end. Strong start, restart and ends, with that said- Do at least one, preferably two stop/starts within each stringer. I know that most people don't teach it, ...
