Re: Getting cooled! What torch #20 or #18?
I looked at the water cooled flex loc, I wast really impressed. There is no coolant passages in the head. In its air-cooled state its a neat torch that's very versatile. I think for my skill set, I would be better served by a more traditional torch. I appreciate the responses, seems the 20 is a pret...

Getting cooled! What torch #20 or #18?
I am a complete hack of a a tig welder. I need to practice more and getting tired of the torch getting so hot. I ran a ck flex loc 150. I am running a Everlast 210EXT and just bought the W300 cooler for it. I need to make a decision on torch. I thought I recall a conversation about the #20 being lim...

How to choose my first roll of Dual Shield?
I have a Everlast power Mig275S (275amp), running C25 gas. I have knurled rollers for .035 and .045. I would like to get a roll of Dual Shield for some upcoming projects. I need to weld a lifting eye on a small backhoe bucket. I need to weld some hooks on a tractor bucket. And I need to do some gene...

Recommendation for decent backup helmet?
I have a Lincoln Viking auto helmet and love it. I came from a import auto which I hated and gave me a headache, pos! Anyways I have my mig and tig at separate places. I keep my mig at my folks place as I don't have room for both. I only have one helmet so I should buy a second for a spare and to ke...

Recommendation for dual shield wire?
I have a Everlast 275S that I just picked up serrated driver rollers for. I have been interested in trying dual shield for its performance on thicker stuff. I will be using it for mild farm and home fab. I am hoping this process can really be counted on for thicker stuff. Looking at how much this st...

Re: Everlast Powermig 275P
I have the 275S which is the same unit minus pulse. In talking with Mark at everlast I saved legit money buying this model. The S does everything I need and more in terms of power and duty cycle. I truthfully don't have a need for pulse. I rarely will do spray more or less out of position spray. I d...

Re: First aluminum project.....
Yeah a lot of short runs but great practice. I even builthough the rear axle out of aluminum. Building one out of steel would have been much faster and cheaper but I learned a lot. That and it will never rust! If I had a bigger garage/shop I would have built something bigger but space is a premium. ...

Re: CK Flex Loc questions??
I have the 150 gas cooled which uses the series 3 heads. For my needs it's a really flexible option. I just finished a aluminum project, running on ac can really heat up a torch. Having owned one I don't see it aseems the best option water-cooled for the reasons described above. If I go water-cooled...

Re: filler rod quality does a name brand make a difference?
As far as tungestn goes I bought some "ABN" brand lanthanated in 1/16" and 3/32" seems to be good. Not dipping them as much. I usually buy my stuff on Amazon. LWS is a bit pricy. I bought the same for my initial supply up for the new welder, I thought they seemed alright. I don'...

Re: Feedback, TIG bead on plate aluminum
Thanks for the replies. I have been playing around with steel as well. I didn't expect getting into tig how much all the little things add up. Just getting into a good position with pedal, torch, filler, proping, etc. Jody makes it look so easy! Are there any tips for getting finer control out of th...

Feedback, TIG bead on plate aluminum
Practicing with aluminum. 150 amps on the pedal, 30% cleaning, both 80 and 200 hz, 3/32 2% lanthanated.#6 cup, 5356 1/16. This is the first time I have used 5356 and so far I prefer it over 4043. For me it seems more controlled, doesn't flow as easy. 4043 seemed to really wet out. I am thrilled as I...

Re: Help picking first TIG Machine ?
Thanks for all the replies, I have done some more shopping and looking this week. I spoke to Everlast and discussed machines. I am looking real hard at the 210ext. It seems to fit all my needs, gets good reviews and has features I can grow into. Ironically, I was looking at a combo plasma version th...

Help picking first TIG Machine ?
I am brand new to TIG Welding and have never even pushed a pedal! For years I have always had a interest in TIG welding and have had numerous small projects over the years it would have been perfect for. The problem was and is, cost! The idea of a $4k machine is out of reach. I have put it off for t...
