How "thick" stringer?
Well, I got a job rearranging a cooling app to get some valves fitted, this is 12" (323,4mm) x 9/32" (7.1mm) Pipe carbon-steel. No wps, no xray. Hired with me a good friend of mine which works in a workshop here. We were giving it a few shots earlier today, since its been a while since I`v...

Re: Pipewelding question.
Okay! Yes, my practice is purge on all stainless / 300 series. That being said, there is no such trade in Norway as pipe welder, boilermaker, pipe fitter or any official trade with welding and pipes/tubes in it. Simply just plumbers who weld or mechanical companies who have specialized them self in ...

Good!
Just for curiosity;
What kind of piping is used in The States if you are manufacturing a cooling arrangement with say 6" on about 2 bars, wall thickness, steel or ss?
Thanks!

Re: Pipewelding question.
No issues with walking the cup, but it is a little trickier with a smooth pipe as opposed to a sch 40 or 80 pipe where you have a gap to use a guide. But you still have the struggle when it comes to walking the cap pass, right? Or do you feel it is easier to walk over the bead you have just layed w...

Re: Pipewelding question.
I will either walk the cup around 50amps So there is no problem walking the cup on a pipe wich requires only one pass? I have just about tried it, can`t say the results are the best, but I get the feeling its easy to burst too much heat into it with the wtc method. For the record I only weld with p...

Pipewelding question.
Hello! Ok, So a few months back I was doing a cooling job for a company, and the default cooling/heating/sanitary pipes here in Norway got 2mm wall thickness untill you pass 8" then it runs up to about 3mm / 4mm. All flanges comes with 3mm neck thickness. (These kind of installments rarely runs...

Re: Gasoline, chemicals, how?
First of all, thanks a lot for good answers. Secondly this is not something that is going to be tested. The reason for this topic is straight out of curiosity. And how this "situation" is handled in other places in the world. But how do you guys approach a gasoline tank repair if someone b...

Gasoline, chemicals, how?
Hello! So I been wondering for a while, say you have pre-fabbed a pipe arrangement and are to weld it up to a existing pipe arrangement, and say that arrangement carries a flamable liquid exc gasoline, how would you approatch it? Shut of nearest valves and purge from nearest thread / possibility? I`...
