Re: Adding watercooler to syncrowave 210
I have a 200amp ac/dc tig machine that came with a WP-17 torch. I got a water cooler for a price I couldn't refuse and then I bought a CK-20 flex head torch with with a super flex hose. It's definitely a noisier setup now, but the torch never gets warm and I run it at 200amps for 1/4" aluminum....

microwave shelf
I made a microwave shelf out of 1x1x0.083 steel tube. I painted it with Rustoleum Hammered Black spray paint. I'm a hobby welder and I don't have a welding table. I used a B&D Workmate with a 1x8x26 piece of aluminum for the table and I added some 1x1/4x18 aluminum bar as a jig. p-01.jpg Here's ...

Re: Returned AHP over dumb gas lens issue....advice?
You might look at the white insulators. Make sure you have the correct ones (different for regular vs gas lens), that they are installed correctly (order and direction), that they are seated properly, and don't leak.
Good luck,
Dave

Re: My hybrid welding cart
Thanks. I bought the water cooler through a surplus auction on http://www.govliquidation.com. I'm almost embarrassed to say that my winning bid was $35 ($45 with buyers premium and CA sales tax). It did cost me a days time to drive 4 hours each way to pick it up.

This is my hybrid welding cart. pic-00.jpg I call it a hybrid because I started with an AV (audio visual) cart and added some features. pic-02.jpg Initial placement of welder and water cooler. pic-03.jpg This is how I used the cart while I was deciding what to build. This is a longshot. When I welded left handed (weak side) I could see a butt joint and puddle great. When I welded right handed (strong side) I couldn't see the butt joint and I could barely see the puddle. It didn't make any sense to me. I weld in my garage and it's a pretty cramped setup. I did fi...

I don't know if this helps or not. I'm a hobby welder (55+ years old) and I took the introduction to welding at my local junior college. It really helped me. It was very benefitial to have someone point out ways I could improve. That helped me avoid making the same mistakes over and over again. I do...

eVilBay is your friend. I have purchased 90 percent of my torch parts online, many via our friends in China. I found barrenweldsupply to be good for small quantities of lenses, cups, and other miscellaneous items. Prices are good and shipping is very reasonable. Here's a link: http://stores.ebay.co...

Re: Torch questions
Hi,
I've got a WP17 and a CK20. The CK 20 is physically smaller.
WP17 is towards the top of the picture and the CK20 is towards the bottom of the picture
WP17 is closer to the quarter.
I got SuperFlex cables with the CK20 and it's a great setup.

My astronomy club is adding an extension to the pier that holds the telescope. It didn't come with a bracket to hold the controller. I had some 1-1/4"x1/4" aluminum bar in the garage and decided to make something to hold the controller. Pieces cut and drilled: 100_2576.JPG Parts mocked up:...

I seriously think I'm going to sell my aircooled torches, I can't think of any reason to keep them. I even have a CK microtorch I used for reaching the really pain in the ass areas of the cage and if I need to use it again I'll just get a watercooled one. An air cooled setup is more portable. If th...

I took the intro to welding at my local junior college a little over a year ago. The first thing we did was oxy acetylene welding. I held the torch this way, balanced across my palm (facing up). The instructor thought I was nuts, but we were only welding 4" coupons and this was more comfortable...

I made a custom extension cord for my AlphaTIG. It's 30' long and has a (male) dryer plug (10-50P) on one end and a (female) recepticle (6-50R) on the other end. I didn't save any money making the extension cord, but it's the length I wanted (30' versus 25' or 50'). Dave FWIW, it works great and I'm...

I didn't weld anything, but I won a government auction for a DYNA-FLUX R1000SS 14K BTU cooler yesterday. The prongs on the power cord are bent at a 90 degree angle. I'm hoping that's all I have to fix to make this work (after I buy a water cooled torch and goodies). 75429801.jpg 75429805.jpg 7542980...
