Cool, maybe I'll go blue then. With the money I save, I can buy an everlast that burns 6010. Two welders are more better than one.wvuarmyeng wrote:Last year it was Oct- Dec I'm hoping it's the same this year

Re: Various welding projects
Not any welding here, just wanted to show a box I made for my gas torches. Made in 1,5mm aluminum with stainless handle and hatch. Once again, I could by a cheap box but what do one learn from that? I could have welded the lids so the rivets is just for the cool factor. DSC_0333.jpg DSC_0331.jpg DS...

Rebar is sand blasted then epoxy coated for use in beach-front construction.
They say four coats to be completely waterproof in some applications like boat bottoms, but that may be overkill for your project.

Re: New to welding - Need advice on welding different thickn
I would clean with detergent, then acetone, then scratch it up with 100 grit, then use a gel super glue. Harder than epoxy. JB Weld would probably work cleaned the same way and you could use a popsicle stick to form a nice fillet. Always prove your glue before gluing. Zero heat distortion with gluin...

Re: "W" Rebar, Angle, Sq.Tubing, B-Decking, Concrete, Block
I added some details to the original post. Here's what it looks like with the B-Decking screwed on. I had to re-route the gas line underground and punch a hole through the solid-grouted block. I built a manifold to run two cylinders in tandem to get enough evaporation rate at low temperatures. A low...

I'm leaning toward the 210 MP for a couple reasons. It's digital and I can remember numbers but can also write them down, let's say, for welding 16 gauge tubing. The thickness of 16 ga. varies so I'm thinking I could measure and set amps for the slight variance of one amp per thousandth. It seems li...

"W" Rebar, Angle, Sq.Tubing, B-Decking, Concrete, Block
I'm building a propane shed out of non-combustible material. I layed the split-face block nice and straight where the gates attach. I finished the concrete to drain off with no puddling. Gates are 16 gauge 2" x 2" tube. Flux-core wire without gas. Distortion was corrected by welding to shr...

Re: JD Brewer 60 ft metal rack build
He used a Lincoln 256 with flux core/c25 but I know JD has a Lincoln 210 MP. Is the 210 MP capable of the same welds? Obviously the duty cycle would limit the number of welds per hour. I really enjoy watching JD's work. Yes, he uses it in the field and talks about it in other videos I wonder if tha...

Re: Which flap discs?
Many thanks for everyone's input. I ended up getting a ten-pack of 5" 40g tigerpaw discs for $23. They worked great on a wrought iron job I did last week adding 50 intermediate pickets to a railing to make it kid safe. One disc removed all the paint for welding and still has a lot of life left....

Re: Ground hooked up to a neutral?
Three-wire 240 is kind of mickey-mouse in my opinion but has been done this way for decades. For safe 240, I prefer red and black for the two 120volt hot legs, white for the working neutral back feed isolated from ground, and green for the chassis ground in case something hot comes loose and grounds...

Where the heck can you get cheap flap disks? I saw my old boss buy ten boxes (10 per box) of them at one time because he got them for $5 a box. Not sure how he came across that deal but I'd sure like to find a deal like that myself. I just paid $8 for one 40 grit disk at home depot a couple of days...

Welding Table Round and Rolling
Just completed. This table is 23" diameter by 29" height. The top is one inch plate with a drip groove on the underside. The legs are 4" x 3" x .120" x 2' joined at a twelve degree angle. I stick welded the legs to the top with 3/32" 6011. I also welded a .250" ste...

Re: Fuel tank build- thickness, material?
I'm curious how thin a project like this can be made from stainless steel while still retaining a polished unpainted/unfilled finish? For instance, .040" (1mm) or thinner? Assuming it gets welded along the center line and tunnel seams, at what thinness is warping unmanageable? Delorean made an ...

The original CR2032 lithium batteries read 3.04 volts. I increased the delay and I'll work with the sensitivity. If that doesn't fix it, then I'll put in the new Lithiums which read 3.32v. Thanks I also need some sort of black cloth to shield the stray light coming into the back of the helmet since ...

. . . .like a Flashbulb going off while welding.
Lately, I have been getting occasional flashbulb-like flashes during welding on carbon steel and stainless. One particular project had some internal rust on mild steel tubing. I recently switched to an auto-darkening helmet but it wasn't doing this at first. My straight argon cylinder is below 500ps...

I have cut Aluminum with a Carbide wood blade in my worm drive circular saw. Noisy as all get out but a nice cut and no dangerous grabbing.
