Re: 3D Printed Tungsten Grinder (Another one!)
My other attachment has lasted over a year and still goin strong! I smashed a duplicate with a 4 Lbs. sledge and it took 3 good wacks before it broke and it didn't really even break. This one would likely survive 1 and still be usable. As for the cost!!! Well it probably cost me the same amount of h...

Re: 3D Printed Tungsten Grinder (Another one!)
Hey Coldman! You've always had good advice and even if you didn't, input is always appreciated! The reason there's a gash on the 1/8 is because it went off the track when I was cutting it off since I wasn't doing it right hence user error. You can't argue that either. If you hold a rod there for a l...

3D Printed Tungsten Grinder (Another one!)
I thought you all savvy shoppers and engineers might appreciate this grinder attachment for a Dremel I built. I re-built the hack version I took from Jag and this is what I came up with. It includes a cut off guide that handles up to a 1/8 rod. It has 4x 10, 20, 30, and 40 degree angles for 1/16, 3/...

Re: My first titanium part
When doing Ti work, particularly aerospace, I thought the goal is to never have any color at all? At worst, straw yellow is the only acceptable and it must be kept to a minimum? I know it's an exhaust albeit at the hottest part of the engine, but I figure the same rules apply. I'm not judging, just ...

Re: Stubby gas lens problems...
I notice in your video your torch angle is horrible. Fix that! :) I also notice you did not swap insulators. The stock Everlast Insulator and the Stubby Gas Insulator look ALMOST identical. In fact I really can't tell the difference but there was a difference when you connect them. Using the pyrex s...

Re: Welding Comedy: my First TIG Effort
Lil brown spots are usually some kinda crap in your weld. If you've got nice clean, shiny metal (shiny since you're on steel), then you might need to question your filler and gloves. If you've got grease n stuff on your gloves, you transfer that to your rod. If your rod is dirty or even dusty like i...

On CJ's note.... One of the best pieces of advice I got for beads.... DO NOT put all your weight on your forearm on the table otherwise you'll be moving your wrist, not your arm, which will cause an uneven path AND you'll need to pick your weight up to move which will immediately create a deviation ...

Re: Tig beginner
Perhaps you should try to use less advanced techniques like walking the cup. That requires multiple passes back over your hot zone (HAZ) and requires a more special pausing technique. Bein a stick welder you're probably very familiar with this but I personally think it's different than TIG since wit...

I believe I'm late to the show but you never posted your success so perhaps you're still hunting... The three common things for bad arc that I've found are: 1: Bad Grind 2: Bad Ground 3: Bad Gas Specifics of the 3 Bad Things: 1: Tons of arguments here but a bad grind gives bad arc. If you have a fla...

Re: Accessorize a Noob's TIG Rig
If you have a 3d printer or if you've got a school/buddy that has one then you can print a Tungsten grinder for a Dremel. I've been using this quite a bit and it works wonderfully! It's a remesh of someone else's design that was a remesh of someone else's design. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:190...

I went to Lewis Welding Supply and asked them but they never heard of it. They called their other store and same story so they were going to talk to their Hobart distributor and get back to me. They never did and hadn't found it when I called for a follow up. I love that store and they're good peopl...

4943 Hard to Find - Maybe Not!
I was having a hard time finding 4943 locally and on the net specifically in 3/32 @ 10 lbs. I admittedly didn't look everywhere but still I looked. Well I finally found some and I had to go to weldfabulous.com. Still, it's ordered and shipped! I recall others having some issues a few months ago so I...

Yeah I've decided to go with a rigging crew to move it in. I'll lift it myself since I should be able to do that with my equipment, it's just the moving and driveway that are sketchy.

Thanks for the general thoughts on the anchoring :) I purchased these levelers which I'll build a stand and put these into it along with the casters to move it as needed and hopefully give it a few extra inches so my back doesn't turn into a ? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EI2315M/ref=oh_aui_...

Thanks for that point about the anchor size :) Yeah I def don't have a shop that large; one day maybe but I'm pleased with what I have :) Have you been doing fine precision work or just using the mill for what a mill is good for? I'm guessing if you had a concern or noticed problems you would have b...

I've seen plenty of video of the BP and it does look like that was designed to stand at all day long like a good classic 1940s worker should be doin. it looked like 20 degrees from the street but I used an igage angle measure and based the zero degree from the driveway and checked it about every 3 feet so yeah it looks like 4.2 all the way up. That sounds like that was fun! Looks like you gave it the proper spacing all around too ;) Thank you for the links too! Re: Viewability issues and bib accessories
I ordered the bib for my Optrel e684. It can be used as a head cover instead so it has this rubber weather stripping like grip to it that goes over the top lip of the hood so the bib lays across the back of your head and shoulders. I've got a thin profile face and just thin all around so most weldin...
