I've noticed that 2% seems to be more durable in that it retains a point better than anything else I've tried. And there seems to be a noticeable difference between that and 1.5% in that regard.

Of course you're going to see a bigger difference on AC rather than DC

I'm a mostly pedal pulser except for stainless. This is .083"4130 chromoly. The machine was set(if memory serves) to around 140 amps. Note the color and lack of HAZ. Anyone that tells you manually pulsing with the pedal increases heat is doing it wrong

As already has been posted, I usually put a tack on the end to absorb some of the heat. Obviously you'll want to gradually decrease the amperage as the part heats up

The one amp per thousandth gets you in the ball park. I like to have a good amount in reserve so I can move faster by pulsing the pedal to control heat
