Have had the same issue, I did find a cart designed for it, in Finland. Just gonna make my own from a hand truck however, similar to this:

Re: is 6013 just as strong as 6011?
I've been advised against 6013 for anything that will be outside in cold temps as the metal apparently gets brittle in colder temperatures. So I mostly just use 7018, but I have a pack of thin diameter 6013s, useful to have anyway.

Re: I think I killed my Lincoln 210 MP
So, I went to Lincoln and searched for parts. That board, if I'm not mistaken, costs about $700. Which is 70% of what I paid for the machine. This would mean that I'd have to hope for a component level repair that would almost certainly be a very small fraction of that amount. However, during my go...

My new to me mig welder
I bought a mig welder last weekend. I've been looking for a while to get another welder. I had my qualificaitons set early on which where: 2nd hand + cheap (for a home shop) Brand should be Kemppi, ESAB, Wallius (finnish brand, not well known, but quality machines) Transformer & Diode based...

Re: Machinist Forums
Can definitely agree on the PM forums in general, I usually don't post there much because of what the place is like. I usually post in the Deckel / euro mills subforum because I have a Deckel FP2 milling machine, and the atmosphere in that place is quite different from the rest of the forums. It's s...

Re: Do Fancy Welders Make Your Work Better?
I'm not paying for fancy features myself, I want a machine that is durable and lasts a long time, which means a manufacturer that uses quality components. Preferably a machine I can keep going myself indefinetly, so not too modern either, transformer based switching for one, 2nd hand machinery. My m...

Re: Transformer based mig
ESAB should have a range of transformer based mig welders up to 400A, the OrigoMig 320 for instance is a 320A machine, not made in China but in europe. I am not sure if they are available in the US though, don't see why not. I just bought a 250A transformer based welder 2nd hand, a Kemppi Kempomat 2...

Re: Considering a plasma cutter, used quality vs new cheap
Well I tried to find some other 2nd hand quality units, almost found one but the price was too high. So I said screw it and bought a Stahlwerk 70A unit. It's a chinese unit so I am not expecting the world from it. But it has a long warranty period and I saw some others with the same machine and it c...

Considering a plasma cutter, used quality vs new cheap
I have some cutting to do for a future project. And just in general it seems more and more often I find myself in this situation and no good way aside from an angle grinder. So to that end I looked into plasma cutters. And within my budget I can either opt for this old Italian built 3-phase machine ...

The last figure I believe has todo with how much an effect the angle has on the shading or quality of vision. Like if it's good at only seeing straight on or if things seen from an angle to the lens are equally shaded/clear.

Re: vertical 7018 stringers
Mosrly I weld flat with 7018s but today I did some uphill as I was welding some square tubing together and man it was a disaster. I was probably at 100 amps with a 2.5mm rod (3/32nds) and the wall thickness was thinner on one side, 3mm or a little below 1/8" and it blew through that side. I eve...

Thanks everyone for responding. It's not a brand name, but in the description it's suppose to be certified by CE and ANSIZ87 standards. I have it adjusted all the way to 13. all the other settings is set to the max for sensitivity and darkening response. sent a message to the ebay seller. hopefully...

Re: New Tig Hood questions
No one wants to pay good money for a product, then have problems...that said any product, no matter how carefully manufactured, is going to have some with a quality issue. As far as a negative review, when reading any review we really don't know anything about the writer, even someone writing a pos...

Re: New Tig Hood questions
I am in the same situation and I have been looking at several helmets. I feel like I really want to like the Lincoln VIking 3350, great optics and specs, huge viewing area, and I like the look of it. But I am wary of reading too many negatives of the build quality and battery problems. So I looked a...

Re: Helmet: Optrel e684
I'm also interested in the E864 but it has fierce competition from the Lincoln Viking 3350 in my mind. I can get the viking from the UK for 120 euros cheaper. And I hear the viking has bigger screen and better clarity. So what it comes down to for me is build quality. Which of the helmets lasts long...

Re: Lets talk china Tigs?
Hey speaking of electronics, while it's not worth repairing chinese welders, this old Kemppi of mine deserves better. Replaced all the Rifa capacitors in my welder, the old ones were degraded (cracks) and I believe this caused erratic arc, especially at lower currents. I had to take the welder apart...

imgur is the fastest method I know to upload and share pictures, you can just copy paste an image right into their page! I also use Flickr, easy to share to from my phone, previously I had a DSLR and used lightroom.

Thanks, it's mostly an academic question for me since I have a DC only machine but it's been something that's been running around in my head for a while. And I couldn't try it out because I was lacking the equipment.

TIG welding steel with AC?
I've tried googling this but didn't see anything so I figure I'd ask here, perhaps a dumb question, but AC is used on aluminum for the cleaning action of the positive half of the sinewave (or square or triangle etc), also good for welding dirty aluminum castings as Jody showed in a recent video. Tha...

TIG brazing seems very useful, if you got cracked cast iron or aluminum part for instance, and no AC capability (like me), that's a part that could be TIG brazed for instance.

ESAB's swedish, the name is originally an abbreviation of "Elektriska svetsningsaktiebolaget" (Electric welding company AB). Though nowadays when everything is bought and sold and nothing is tied to the place it came from anymore, who knows, some board of directors somewhere probably buy a...

Re: Inverter machines ... good and the bad
Lots of people over here in scandinavia, even pros (disclaimer: I'm not a pro) seem to like old transformer-rectifier welders for DC welding, even over newer inverters. But only for jobs in the shop then... I figger it's because these machines are usually 3-phase (because that's how we power basical...
