Torch consumables inconsistencies

The AHP TIG200 came with a flexhead 17 air cooled torch> The stuff that came with the welder 4 years ago fits it fine> When I got it I bought a kit off Amazon alumina cups, gas lenses and cups, collet bodies and collets and of course 600 extra tail caps. I went to the local "welding supply"...

Re: Tungsten sharperner for a hobbiest who wants the good st

I considered the ew but didn’t want to pay for the motor twice so I’m giving the base model Tungstenmate a try. Will post my results. Even if its not gods gift I believe repeatability is where it will let me dial in the rest of my technique. I got the Tungstenmate Gen4 off ebay 2 weeks ago, I alrea...

New ATV receiver hitch

My old Honda 4 wheeler had the run of the mill, too low, ball mount for a hitch. Decided to make a new receiver hitch for it to get the ball up to a level height for my trailer. All TIG welded, needed practice and the MIG is out of gas lol Receiver tube and upper mount https://photos.smugmug.com/pho...

Re: Inconsistent arc start

My AHP has gotten me into the habit of tapping the tungsten on the work before hitting the pedal.
For me, it makes it start every time and gives me reference as I have depth perception issues. Yeah, I dip way too much

Re: AHP TIG 200 questions (perf related)

I can't comment on the display issue, but I had something similar with another brand/model machine and they were never able to fix the issue. It welded fine, and responded to the knob, but the display didn't match the actual output. As far as the arc and HF start goes, yes, you have to periodically...

whats the best cover material? covers tend to help with moisture which is why i cover mine. i just use old blanket, sheets etc. I'm going to buy the cheap "moving blankets" from harbor Freight to make covers for my machines. I have machine tools in the shop as well as welders that need to...

unknown, lol
Almanac says we are in for an ElNino. Usually around here mid to late December at the earliest.
Used to be in the 80's early to mid November had everything froze, but at that time 10-16 days of 30 below was normal over Thanksgiving.

Re: Lets talk china Tigs?

My first TIG welder was an ESAB 252, a beast of a machine and weighed a ton. I am perfectly happy thus far with my chinese AHP Alapha Tig 200x. Doesn't have quite the balls the Esab did, but it isn't 750 pounds and it isn't 4800 bucks. I had it apart to adjust the HF start "points" and it ...
