Yeah classroom work, it will be subjected to a tensile test, aiming to get the highest UTS among my peers, I have been searching and also found that 7018 seems to be a good choice.

Help welding two a36 steel plates
Hi I need to Weld two a36 steel plates (3/16 inches) with smaw I was thinking what type of rod should I use I was thinking a 7014 rod and an amperage between 80-100, this is my first weld where I decide all the parameters so any help is appreciated. Thanks!
