Re: need some help
I still have my Miller Digital Elite and a few cheapos from Harbor Freight for backup and when the wife wants to watch, but it seems I read a lot about getting the OPTREL brand. When my Miller bites the dust I think that is the direction I am heading although I really like my Miller. Others will chi...

Holy Cow !! This thread took a left hand turn. Today I was at about 1/2 speed as far as production goes. If it's not better tomorrow morning I'm switching back over to a thumb wheel. As well, standing on one foot all day is beginning to hurt. Every thread takes a left..it's all electrodes fault...n...

You're right..we ate paste and drank glue. That was a long time ago. I remember when White-out came to be 8-) We also made judicious use of the exhaust fans in the welding booths in highschool...I think I mis-spent my youth...hope no anal retentives read this  I have taken advantage of quite a...

Jody, and no, not small hands, 9" spread and typical for us meaty fingers. It's getting a little better, lots of "new" things for me today. New machine, Dynasty 280 DX, was Syncro 250. 2% Lanth tungsten, was pure. Foot pedal, I've used a thumb wheel for the past 12 years. This job ca...

Small hands? JK
I wear the same gloves in 2XX and don't have any problems. Did you buy it from Jody or that place that is selling a copy of the tig finger?

Looks great. And two tone paint job to boot. I like the hydraulic power pack, where did you get that and how much was it? Thanks electrode. Sorry I couldn't post individual pictures of the project, but the website won't allow MP4 videos, so I had to link to my photobucket account. Here's the link t...

Re: Tig welding aluminum help
Is the welder under warranty? If so maybe contact the seller and see if you can return it for a new one. Maybe when your electrode was stuck out so far and you had a large gap between the tungsten and the piece you fried a capacitor or something. Seems like we are at a loss here. Did you try some ne...

Re: You know you're a welder if...
...You know a lot more about grounding than most people due to the fact you stuck your filler rod to your tungsten and had your bare sweaty arms on the steel welding table.

Oscar mentioned turning the pulse off and here is the switch. I don't know if you tried it yet or if it will help though. Try some other filler for sure and not just the same stuff you already have. Try some 5356 too just for a test.

Turn. Pulse. Off. Pulse frequency ? Lower left knob, set it to zero. Also, do not use green pure tungsten with inverter welding machine. Try one of your other tungsten's and sharpen it before using it. And clean the little blobs from the screen on your gas lens. We don't have the manual so we do no...

Re: Tig welding aluminum help
Ok, I guess you don't want to identify your machine but that's ok. :P Last advice I can give is to look at your tungsten and see if it has been contaminated and cut off the bad section and regrind it or use a new one and use the biggest diameter you have. Set your AC Balance to 70% Electrode Negativ...

I was just gonna ask what is the thickness and what is the piece you are welding on? After watching the video it doesn't look like you are getting the part hot enough and starting the puddle so it appears you are just burning the filler rod. And what is the brand of the machine??
