Re: Pulse MIG / Pulse Spray Settings
Spray MIG requires both the correct gas mixture and voltage. Pulse settings are heavily dependent on material thickness and wire diameter. It would be very helpful if you provided some basic information so that others can offer input. I have 90/10 gas and am using .035 ER70S6 wire. Beyond that I'm ...

Pulse MIG / Pulse Spray Settings
Can anyone point me to a resource for pulse MIG settings for a machine without a synergic feature? I'm using an Everlast 275P but all the pulse settings are manual. I have to individually set wire speed, voltage, base voltage, frequency, and on-time. No setting or readout for amperage. I'd really li...

Re: What causes these worm tracks in flux core weld?
Doing better..... It was a brand new roll of wire out of the bag so I don't think moisture is a problem and I'd ground the scale off the work with a flap disk. I think the problem was mostly stick-out distance. I was holding longer than usual but it seems this needs a really long stick-out...nearly ...

What causes these worm tracks in flux core weld?
Just set up my MIG welder to use .045 dual shield wire and made a few test welds. (Don't laugh at the welds....literally the first quick and dirty test run.) A couple of times I got these funny worm tracks lengthwise down the weld....never seen that before. My settings were 23.5v and 300 ipm and abo...

Re: Everlast Powermig 275P
Thanks for the reply, The only things holding me back on the 275P is lack of much info from users online (not surprising since it's a pretty new product) and the fact that they are direct selling.....no dealer network for support if you have a problem. If they suddenly stop importing them and you ne...

Everlast Powermig 275P
Been looking for a new Mig welder (and possibly a multi function welder) and posted some questions on the "General Shop Talk" page but since my primary use is Mig I'll ask here for opinions. Original Thread: http://forum.weldingtipsandtricks.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10837 I'm kind of in...

Re: New to forum: New welder advice, multi-process or not?
You are correct in saying that MIG is most important at this time and I definitely want the pulse option. Only thing I wonder about the 251si is that if I want to try spray transfer I'd be working at or near the top of the voltage range. I'm not sure how much I'd use Tig....of course if I have it I ...

Re: New to forum: New welder advice, multi-process or not?
C. Livingstone, Thanks for the detailed response. The Everlast machines look like nice units. I'm used to the big transformer machines and it's surprising how compact and powerful the inverter machines are. 90% of the time the 251 Si welder would be great. My only reservation is that if I began usin...

New to forum: New welder advice, multi-process or not?
I'm beginning a search for a new welder and need a little advice. Most of my welding is done in a farm shop doing fabrication and repair. Mostly using A36 steels but recently I've had a couple of projects that require welding of AR400. I'm no expert but my skill level is decent for a non school-trai...
