One cheat you can do is cut them slightly less of an angle so after welding it pulls itself to 90
When I use to do pie cuts we had them all laser cut I would sand the outside edge a little more then the inside when I was removing the dross.

Artie, Thank you very much! It's been a long time coming but I finally made the jump. So far it has been a blast and a learning curve. Re: Tight spot
I'm cheating. I decided to cut the short necked filler off and replace it with another that's already welded to a 4" square and just weld the assy. down . It should be much simpler and cleaner. I've had that problem but I was lucky enough to get by with a #5 a long stick out and high cfh. Sent...

I’ve been trying to learn how to weld aluminum but I can’t figure it out I’ve tried every setting and I just can’t seem to get a puddle to form I think the problem is I’m using some Lowe’s aluminum and not like 6061 but I’ll attach a picture and if anyone could tell what I’m doing wrong it would be...

It's interesting, but definitely not for everyone. There is heaps of repetition. The job I'm on at the moment is part of an order of 1200 vehicles, so there will be the same welds for a while. I could see that but at the same time I love dropping the hood as long as possible Sent from my SM-G920V u...

I think I was usually around 100 to 150 on frequency and I don't remember on the amps maybe 30 to 60 amps at the most. I just lay my filler in the joint of the weld and light up on that. And keep pushing the filler in.

25 cfh argon is high, isn't it? i recall reading that too high a flow rate can draw in ambient atmosphere and contaminate the weld. The Miller weld calculator can provide the proper flow rate. Also, some flow meters are graduated in liters per minute, rather than cubic ft per hour. Most the guys at...

Re: "Sandy" looking beads
It does typically turn colors but if it's kept in gas coverage until it's cool enough to touch it should be silver. All you need to do is get a puddle started then stop and keep the torch over it with the gas flowing and check the color.
