I used stay silver solder with stay brite flux, first we drew a stainless reducer through the hole to get it to pucker from the inside,it leaves a nice little well on the inside for the solder to set in,then pre wrapped solder rings over the nipple, the flu...

Re: Anyway to get AL Oxide Off Rod

Base for bench is 2 inch angle, you need an 8",and a 16" piece, the upright for axle are 8" also, the mandrel is a piece 24" long bent around a b-tank.then 2 pieces 6" long,I bent and welded the loop, then added in the 6" pieces, how I positioned them is put a level on the...

Re: Everything about aluminum

I started to realize, the more my projects grew, the harder it became to start a weld, that's when I would wave my Mapp torch over it to kick start the heat, don't have a huge expensive welder,so for now the preheat helps!

Re: Problems finding the right tungsten

Seems the great tungsten death is all over the map,I use alot of 2% lanthinated, I really like E3,also Ceriated does pretty well, but I will say, once I figured out how to grind them right slot of my problems went away, especially on aluminum,I found that after grinding them,if I rubbed then back in fo...

Re: Used plasma cutter price

I was in the same boat, really wanted a plasma, didn't want to break the bank,I pondered back and forth, drove me crazy, what was the right one, used or new,red or blue or gray or green,it all depends on what you are doing,I ended up with the everlast 80s,60% duty cycle, cuts up to 11/4 inch steel,@10 to ...

I have several of these wheels, not real sure about them, you can definately feel a sort of vibration when you cut, kind of scary! They do cut but seems that after awhile ,they would eat the bearings on your grinder!
