the worst welds ever
been playing with the weld pro at work I think I mentioned in another post and was rocking along pretty good, getting motivated so I fired up the sw 200 for a little project I have been wanting to start for a couple of weeks and the wheels fell slam off. the welds were full of worm holes and that ru...

Re: Lift arc set up off generator
I am a little embarrassed to ask but can someone explain what the chopper does? I'm no authority on the subject, so here's Lincoln's explanation (page 4): https://www.lincolnelectric.com/assets/us/en/literature/nx130.pdf Thanks Dave, I am admittedly tech illiterate and that makes me skittish of add...

Try this My favorite look for a bike, bobbers just look like pure american iron to me, no bling other than paint. what do you envision when she's complete? Re: Lift arc set up off generator
I’m running a Lincoln Ranger 250 with the chopper set up. The machine had a touch start tig setting and I want to get a torch set up off that machine. Any recommendations for the simplest most practical set up there ? The machine has a plug for remote as well just unsure of the best set up without ...

Re: Old Girl Handled Business!!
Now it's time to get a new one worthy of SPARTA!!!!! Sorry, just had to! Ironically, I had already "upgraded" to a larger Grizzly 7x12 gear head to support some of the larger work. Hated it. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough, and sold it a couple weeks ago. Bad timing, I guess. I h...

Re: Plasma Cutter vs Cold Saw
I am curious what order folks would recommend for cutting tool purchases. I would suggest whatever chop style saw first according to budget, then a band saw of some kind, then a oxy-fuel rig and last because it is pretty much a one trick pony a plasma cutter if desired. that is based on 99% fab work...

Re: what is going on with this welder?
thin tube is gonna be tough on you regardless I think. if you are dead set on a dc machine I would look at the yes welder 165 and 205 stick machines or better yet a mig machine but like was said prior heavier wall material is your friend I think.

I have a small brass topped table that I hook my ground clamp directly to and have clamped the ground directly to stainless practice pieces so I can't imagine why it would be an issue.

Frame rails? Do any modern cars have true frame rails? All I've seen since the demise of the Ford Crown Victoria/Mercury Marquis/Lincoln Town Car (AKA the Ford Panther platform) died off ten years ago is stamped sheet steel. Without factory weld nuts, bolt holes/slots or some such I would be scared...

I used both alcohol and acetone based on what is closest to me unless removing oil or grease, in those cases I go for the acetone.

Re: Which machine
I have the Lincoln sw 200 and 2 primeweld machines as well as a couple of yeswelder machines. The SW 200 is the last machine I would get rid of and is the one I would recommend to you because of the A/C ability but if you aren't hung up on having AC tig I would recommend the Lincoln Power Mig 210MP....

that is really similar to a 4 X 10 I built as a layout and jigging table a couple of years ago but since I wanted to be able to sit at it like a desk to do drawings I only ran braces on 3 sides leaving the front open. I also let the top hang over the frame by about 3.5 inches to allow room for using...

I have a hundred pounder so my mind jumped straight to that, as far as the neck goes it is well protected but what can go wrong will go wrong although I agree it would be less likely with the short tank.

Re: Workshop storage rack
You might run 2 pieces of angle iron side-to-side underneath. Stitch them to the crossed rails. You'd be surprised at how much strength that will add in the center preventing the "sag". Yeah, that will help I think. I built a 4' X 10' layout table much like your storage rack but everythin...
