Re: Transmig 250 experiences

Is " it’s been playing up lately " anything like " knocked up "? I can't find an Aussie to English translator on this site. I do wish you guys would use American Standard English. Are you still driving on the incorrect side of the motorway too claiming you have to for the Holden ...

Re: Air Liquide WARNING

I'm a poor authority on birthday gifts for sons/step or otherwise. I offered to knock the teeth out of the step for his filthy mouth around his mom. She told me I couldn't cause she had over $3000 invested in his teeth. I told the boy to go fetch my checkbook. His mom stopped him on the way to the d...

My hunch is Ringnose was more interested in getting back to playing air guitar with the creature with gigantic plastic doughnuts in his ears.

You got pictures of them tater harvesting & cleanup toys? Post em up. We have major onion growing about 50 miles SW of me, black muck ground that can and will swallow a road trailer, but everything there leaves in bulk boxes to be seen next in grocery stores. Never got to see much tater or onion...

Love the hand saws. You rarely see a doublebitted saw any more.
They remind me of what you get back, if they come back, when they are borrowed.

Maybe they saw who they were dealing with? If Ringnose didn't when I walked in, he dam sure did whan I left. I gave him a detailed explanation of what he could do with the grinder and strongly suggested he crinkle the invoice well before using it to wipe his fundament after completing insertion aft...

Re: Dual shield flux core?

My personal opinion, only held by me and not the salesman for Nelson, is the biggest part of the problem is the contact area between the stud and gun as well as the cable connections. The amps traveling to that stud will eat contact areas if anything is deficient. The multiple short duration power o...

I'd love to take a stab at that job with a bandsaw blade welder power supply and a jig. I have a hunch it would work.

Re: Dual shield flux core?

Have you ever been up close & personal with a stud gun? My Nelson book shows a maximum of 5/8 although someone may sell 3/4. Have you run a cost comparison between stud welding -v- piercing the bedplates and welding in rebar pieces? No, never. OrIginal plan was to get holes cut in the plate, ru...

Definitely a little more process and equipment than a homeowner is going to have. http://www.esab.com/automation/en/products/Flash-Butt-Welding-Equipment.cfm #10 steel wire and limited production you may well be better off employing a thin sleeve and soldering. Uninsulated wire splicing sleeves from...

Air Liquide WARNING

Air Liquide has now come up with a whole new way to tell you THEY DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS. Evidently they consider the staff some kind of entertainment the customer should pay for, because the computer now charges an extra Store Charge if you opt to walk in and buy something. Air Liquide employees ...

Re: Submerged arc troubles

Syntron makes a long line of vibrators, from large enough to rattle a coal car down to the size of your thumb. You can also cobble one up from a small DC relay and a diode to provide encouragement vibes on the drop tube. Just be aware when a vibrator plugs something, it's plugged damn good. The cure...

Re: Added a contactor to my little mig

there was a time when Linkoon and Miller Bros both marketed a tin box with some of that component structure in it. I think Forney did too. Triacs and SCR didn't exist yet so they used relays. HV transformer for the HiFreq resembled an old TV flyback transformer, and needed cleaning occasionally beca...

Is there a crusher on the intaks of the machine to resize the material being recycled? How much of your flux media has gone ceramic post cool? How far behind the gun is the pickup? Your post seems to indicate the plugging is occurring at the point of the cycle where the media is being redeposited o...

Unfortunately I'm 4-5 hours from Coleman's Toys - R- Us yard.

Charlie has many wonderful toys at decent prices.

Cute project box. Did you put HiFreq on it too?

Little closer to Gettysburg that's the main reason I like that welder it actually welds nice with .025 and gas plus the tweco mini mig gun fits anywhere great for body work and sheet metal Thought maybe you were over by Coleman's giant collection of surplus toys. Fear not, it's Washington state that has 3.2%, most of Aus is 4.0. Maybe some other states do 3.2% as well? I think you're mixing that up with Utah, I drink plenty of high proof beer, here in Washington. That said, the beer doesn't help weld quality at all! It most certainly does. Beer is an excell...

Noticed your location. Around Millersburg perhaps?

I'd still do the antispiking diode to protect the gun switch. It's probably only a cheap Cherry microswitch if that. You ain't going to be happy if it welds itself shut.

Re: Added a contactor to my little mig

Different way of doing it, I usually go with air conditioning compressor contactors on the primary side. I get them free.

You might want to add a flux collapse supression diode across the coil of that relay to minimize arcing on the gun switch before you cook that.
