That material is probably thin enough you could think about a cookie cutter like die to cut it out.

Re: Plasma cutter air drier
.......... Then once a year I change out the internal dessicant filter on each drier. ......... its not a desiccant. i suspect you mean coalescing filter which is typical to fit before the drier. it filters extremely fine dirt and captures compressor oil. that stops the driers cooler plates from ge...

Sorry to dig this up again but I figured this might be the best way to possibly get some of older posters on here to come back and give their thoughts. So I've been debating a button for a bit now but I'm curious, how have they held up long term for you guys? And what kind of shop do you use them i...

Re: Plasma cutter air drier
At my shop our two compressors both run into their own refrigerated air dryers made by friulair. Phenomenal machines as long as our pipes don't see 2 or 3 degree Celsius they stay bone dry, and we can adjust that setting if need be. Cost wasn't low but it wasn't terrible either, installed them mysel...

Re: CK flex head feedback from long term users?
I had a flex head on my old Tig welder then when I got the new dynasty it came with a rigid. I definitely miss the flex head. Used it for probably a year with no issues, don't think it's a CK though.

Sounds like your gunna have to bump the pedal or trigger after your bead to keep the gas flowing.

Re: Porosity, mild steel
Not sure if it applies or not but, I chased a intermittent gas leak on my old Lincoln precision tig 185. Wound up being a threaded connection that wiges loose on the dinse block connect that was under the plastic cover on the dinse block. Figure I'd mention in case something weird like that applies ...

Re: The Ultimate Welding Table (Heavy Duty)
I seen a few acorn tables the other day on a auction site. Think the biggest were 8x8' and pretty sure they were 6" thick. They had a few sizes in the lot but it was a take em all or not at all scenario. Definitely wouldn't mind a unmovable table like that but couldn't justify buying them all. ...

Re: Porosity, mild steel
I agree most times I would think it'd be a argon leak. But my brain says there's a chance depending pressure and type of leak etc that the line could potentially make a Venturi and draw air into the stream. I figure the moon and stars would have to aligned just right for that to happen though just d...

I learned on my own through Jody's videos and others. And heck of alot of time under the hood doing all sorts of things. I still learn all new stuff all the time and the muscle memory isn't quite perfect yet but progress is being made. I already had the gear at work and the boss had no complaints wi...

Re: Can I start with TIG?
Its hard but not impossible if you've got the time to practice. Best advice I can think of would be to just get practicing. Start with the basics of getting a puddle and moving it around. Try different things like height and torch angle see what they do. Once your comfortable with that start adding ...

Re: HF start, is it an EMP in the waiting?
But wouldn't there be different levels of EMP's? IE different radius of affect the EMP would have based off intensity of discharge etc? Also I've been told by the mechanics at work that whenever welding direct on a vehicle to either fully disconnect the battery or put a surge isolator on the battery...

Could always get the cheap diamond wheels off Amazon or the like.
I got one mounted to a little toy 3" bench grinder and it works well enough. Wouldn't mind a bit more power from the grinder though

Re: Dual filler designation?
Yeah I gotcha Spartan. I see so many companies bragging about their ISO. But I honestly didn't notice they didn't have a number following the ISO. Usually when I check what the fancy ISO is it's 9/10 times just a safety ISO which to my understanding has nothing to do with quality control etc. Correc...

Re: Dual filler designation?
Hmm Sawyer your answer makes sense and could be what the supplier had in mind with the dual tag. I wish I didn't pitch my other box from then that only had 4943 on it. Then my second box from them came with both. My eyes have not noticed any night and day differences but I'll never know if there is ...

Dual filler designation?
So somethingbive been curious about for a while now is why my ally filler rod have 2 different alloy designations on 1 box. Has anyone ever seen this before? Is my gut right that this is questionable filler material? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210525/1d6fa64e4359e229510ab4a2f54238b8.jpg Sent...

Re: 3M 1.5HP Air Grinder - The Rolls Royce of air grinders
I once worked in a shop that also used a lot of air for the shot blast. The two hoses were 4”. Lots of air demand. Because of that they also ran all air tools. About 100-150 guys. Air tools definitely took the abuse better. For instance when you lean into it on an 8” air grinder you just bog it dow...

Re: 3M 1.5HP Air Grinder - The Rolls Royce of air grinders
I guess our shop is in that sweet spot for amount of air usage since it seems rather cheap to run our air system. I keep in mind though we have multiple massive receiver tanks to keep up with he volume demands our flushing and blasting systems take from the system. But then again I've never done one...

Re: Flash when backing off
Well how about that. I was always told the delay setting was for how fast the helmet darkens when it senses an arc. Not how fast it lightens after the arc is done. I'm going to have to read my Chinese hoods manual and see if they set it up that way. Would definitely explain why sometimes I get to lo...

Re: 3M 1.5HP Air Grinder - The Rolls Royce of air grinders
My opinion on one of the main advantages of a air tool is they simply don't die if they're made well and kept oiled. You can run them in much more hazardous environments with no worries I've got a quite a few air tools out of the 60's. Two of the industrial ones I have even have grease zerks on them...
