Re: Trying to weld aluminum
I’ve been trying to learn how to weld aluminum but I can’t figure it out I’ve tried every setting and I just can’t seem to get a puddle to form I think the problem is I’m using some Lowe’s aluminum and not like 6061 but I’ll attach a picture and if anyone could tell what I’m doing wrong it would be...

Re: Aluminum in Concrete - no good
While selling furniture in my booth, I am often asked about placing some of my steel/wood pieces outside. Typically I say that I don't recommend it. at all. ever. But seeing how often I get the question I have started working on a new idea for a table that can be placed outdoors. My thought process...

That's the one I would really like to have. Let us know what you think.Poland308 wrote:IMG_0299.JPGI got lucky. I was at the LWS and asked about Pyrex gas lenses. They dug one out of a box and gave it to me to try. Liked it so much now I'm going to have to buy more sizes.

Re: BAD GAS/WRONG GAS
I was thinking about ordering a set off Amazon so I could get multiple different cup sizes but now I think I'm just going to go to the LWS and buy just one and see if it works or not. The large gas lens is the one I want to use but like I said they gave me the wrong insulator and It was not sealing...

Re: BAD GAS/WRONG GAS
Glad you figured it out! Much better! Now you can appreciate how much is going on while tig welding. Once you get everything dialed in, you should only have to tweak your settings once in awhile or use some of your bells and whistles. Another tiggerator joins the ranks! Ps...even good gas lenses ar...

Re: BAD GAS/WRONG GAS
I took out the cheap gas lens I purchased. Put in the one that came with the machine. I learned a lot from this thread, there's a few things I'd like to make sure I've got right: Did the machine come with a gas lens or a standard collet body? During the original diagnosis, it seemed like you were a...

Re: BAD GAS/WRONG GAS
I took out the cheap gas lens I purchased. Put in the standard collet that came with the machine. Keep the same settings 35% balance and frequency @120. Laid down good. I think an 3/32 or 1/8 filler rod would work a little better. I guess I'll have to save up and get a good gas lens and find a good ...

Re: BAD GAS/WRONG GAS
Ok. I have suggested that you are too far into the cleaning side of balance. I run my machine a little bit into the penetration side, that keeps the arc focused and keeps the ball small. Go a few numbers into the penetration side( i don't know your machine so bear with me) not much, just a couple p...

Re: BAD GAS/WRONG GAS
If your metal is clean then leave the machine at 35%. Is your arc wandering all over when you light up? Is your tungsten balling up ok? You never did say what thickness your metal was. Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but are you waiting for a puddle to form before you advance? What type...

Re: BAD GAS/WRONG GAS
It's almost assuredly not a material problem if it's good, clean AL. By the way..how thick is your material? I'm pretty sure your manufacturer will suggest ideal settings for balance. If your balance is way off, you will have nothing but problems. It's pretty common for new AL welders to show up he...

Re: BAD GAS/WRONG GAS
Your gas supplier should analyze your bottle for free, if you take to them. I would do this. The last likely cause beyond a gas issue (since it welds fine on DC) is an internal machine issue with the AC mode. Everlast is great at handling those, but I'd rule out the gas first for certainty. The las...
