Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

I'll add a couple things. First one is the connection point on an old farm boom sprayer. It was a 11:00pm quick job had to have it by morning on our family farm. Metal was very thin. Took my time to try to fill some other bug holes some of which kept blowing out, but I got them filled. Not very pre...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Advanced auto sold me a serpentine belt that was 2mm short. I snapped the grip for rotating the the tensioner pulley. Too cheap to buy a new one I built it back up and ground a sloppy hex for the socket. cheers https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211031/da07c956988a5a7ea218237d7c9ee5a7.jpg https://up...

I've actually been thinking about your results a lot lately and glad it got bumped and I could find it. I would've suspected Miller and Lincoln were importing a lot of the same or similar components from China that Everlast and other companies used and assembling it here with a massive mark up. I f...

In my experience cheap meters are usually accurate, but lack the CAT rating for working on electrical panels. They are a serious hazard when working on a high power distribution panel. Ps. Rms stands for root mean squared. It's a better representation of the effective value. Sent from my SM-G930V us...

Re: HTP Invertig 400 AC/DC 1/3-phase is here!

Not to disagree, but 30hp is 30hp. Still alot but i think you mean the amperage times 3.
Power for 3 phase is v*a*1.73*pf=watt.
746watts per hp.
Cheers

I never see anyone any more who uses an old-school helmet. I think I've purchased my last LCD auto-dimming helmet. I simply hate the things. Water comes in through the the 1/4"-20 threaded fitting. Water leaves the torch through one of the barb fittings. Shielding gas enters the torch through the other remaining barb fittings. Ok, but you didn't actually answer what I was confused about. Is the arc initiated through the gas? Doesn'...

One suggestion that might help is to run some beads without filler to get some muscle memory on pedal action. Pumping the pedal will probably just add another difficulty at first but at the end of the day it's fine, just keep practicing. I don't do it for a living, but i try to learn every time. I a...

I understand the water dissipating heat. I pictured a braid similar to the outer shield on a coax cable. Never actually saw one opened up. Be curious to see if ck worldwide is different than a knock off brand?

Re: So, I bought a tig welder....

Without pictures its hard to say, but most tig power cable assemblies have a ~16awg copper wire inside. Without coolant, this wire will fry with anything more than about 50A for a minute or so. If surrounded by coolant but not being pumped, it would survive a little bit more before the coolant boil...

Re: So, I bought a tig welder....

As oscar pointed out you do have a problem with your torch based on resistance test. Poland is probably right, check the head. The cable is not the weak point. Connections and the tube inside the head. Not to say the cable did not soak in glycol for 15yr and rot. Lol Cheers Sent from my SM-G930V usi...
