Re: NEW / BEGINNER Inverter HTP Tig Settings

Jody says your puddle should form in 3 seconds or less. This has helped me to set the amperage. Then use your pedal to adjust the amperage as the metal gets warmer.

BTW....Welcome to the forum.

Please be careful! Watch the fumes from the galvanized steel and make sure to grind the zinc off were you are going to weld.
Let us know how it goes.

Dave,
Great movie! I'm expecting a coloring book to come out with Mr Shrink to color. Boy! That would give you something to do on those cold Minnesota nights! That was so good, even I go it!

Re: newbie

Welcome to the forum! If your interested in a MIG and a spool gun, you might want to take that same money and buy a TIG machine. TIG is slower, but can weld most anything. For production, MIG is hard to beat. I wish I had started out learning TIG; it is so precise, can weld the thinest metals and a ...

As usual, CJ hit the nail on the head. Most drill presses turn too fast for larger hole saws so cutting fluid is a must.

Re: My newly finished TIG Cart

td, It's amazing how similar the carts are, I had seen a few carts, but I just started drawing this on paper and what I came up with. Yours is very similar size, single bottle, it's very close to what I came up with. I had thought of welding the axle on in a very similar fashion, or even just stubs...

Re: My newly finished TIG Cart

td, Would like to see some details on your axles and/or how you mounted that bottle on there. I have a 125cfm tank I will mount to my cart. My cart will be 12" x 28", with the upper frame being 20", so 12" W x 8" D for the tank/filler-storage. For extra credit, did you make...

Re: Got this for Christmas...

Nice tool, I see the adjustable square that Jody likes as well Jody's square is great. The 2" wide square allows you to make a scribed line around square tubing that has large radius corners, and will stand up, on it's own, when using as a vertical square. The quality of the square is the same...

Got this for Christmas...

a gift from my wife.
It's great for tacking and squaring frames and tacking tall vertical pieces (using tabs). As time goes by I'm sure it will find more uses.
See the video of JD Bewer using the square: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-5epY4SCKk
