Re: Lincoln T-355 1/4" alum tungsten balling

What BArt said but also, you stated that you were driving an everlast prior to the lincoln. I'm not for certain but does the balance adjustment adjust the opposite of the everlast? Try turning the balance knob closer to the 3 O'clock position.

Re: “black slag”on weld by autogenous TIG welding with 304

just a thought or 2. IF the spot was from the cup/tungsten or gas, you would think it would be a bit more consistent. The picture does show some holes in the outside of the tube from what, I don't know. Is there a definitive line of those holes where the weld is crossing? That discoloration inside t...

Howdy DZ. Don't want to sound like dillweed, but I did a look up on that hinge. It's got procedure and cautions. Look up weldable aluminum hinges, it should be in there. All the best on your project.

piercy, that looks like some type of blind hole insert. What would happen IF you grind down the head and punch it out? I wouldn't think you can't hurt it, it's already broke. You might get it all welded up, send to shop for machining and right in the middle of tapping, the darn thing lets loose. The...

Go bigger if you can. Can you go with heated floors? Draw a map of the heating system and all the wiring. DON'T allow anyone to store something in YOUR building. They say it will only be for 2 days. HORSE HOCKEY !! 2 day storage is the same thing as a 15 minute weld job...NON EXISTENT.

Re: Is this the result of improper gas flow or unclean metal

I couldn't find the settings for the particular machine but there is something about "gas after flow". i'd be looking in the sub menu for some type of adjustment...or just keep "bumping" the trigger switch after welding so you can keep the tungsten protected til it cools.

Re: Plasma cutting table build questions

I built 2 cutting tables. One is attached to my welding table and hinged to fold out of the way (also only 2 foot x 30 inches). The second is 3x4 and on its own frame of 2x2x18 tubing mounted to wheels so I can move around and place beside my fixed table. The slats are 2 x 1/8 flat stock placed at 2...

glad you found the problem . The "air leak" was where, so others can look also when they get problems? I'm "assuming" the problem was at the bottle connection since that is the "only" place you made a change?

rollers is the answer. Like buggy stated, a thru hole chuck is going to be heavy and expensive and you'll be limited to size. You can get a set of rollers for cheap and set them up.

I have a 3350 hood and found that I had to monkey around with the settings to get it working properly. I do believe that the controls are infinitely adjustable and the numbers on the controls are only a reference number. I did find that the delay was very touchy. once I got things set, I've had no p...

DON'T wear rubber boots ... there is hot stuff being evident while welding and that stuff will melt thru the rubber boot. try running beads before adding filler. Develop muscle memory and "learn" the workings of the torch and machine. Once you get comfortable running beads then start adding filler. When running beads you only want to "peak" at the tungsten/material connection. The torch is almost pe...

Re: Position PC problems

the whole deal is going to be a balancing act for you to get the proper final weld. As far as your other post about ending the weld,,,with the thin material, you probably want to carry some extra filler material from back a few dabs of filler and I swirl the end, BUT again, you won't have a lot of t...
