Re: Hi, glad to be here. Would love to gain wisdom...

Hello and welcome. You will find lots of info in here from a lot of knowledgeable folks. As far as your machine goes, I think you should read the manual and then visit some sights that will describe the set up procedure and operation of the machine. You can search that machine specifically. There ar...

IF you know someone else who does tig welding, take your tungsten along and go see them. Let them give the tungsten a try.

Re: Tungsten refusing to light

welcome. I don't know why you would want to change tungstens, unless you are saving time from resharpening after dipping or messing a tungsten up somehow. BUT, as long as the ONLY thing you did was to change a tungsten, you should have no problems restarting. Make certain your base material is CLEAN...

I'm kinda thinkin that crack goes all the way around the flange, just not visible ... YET. Maybe get some SiBz on the there (away from the last visible area), after cleaning and then chase the rest of the fit.

Hello av8or1, New Year to you and the family. I'm always watching your posts. Sorry about the "illness" and the wait for the results. What type of welder do you use for the repair at the end of the drive. I'd like to get something for "distant" repairs from the shop and still kic...

Esenti, I believe that you will sleep better at night knowing there is no worries about that frame taking a two way split and the operator not kissing the asphalt. I WOULD try to have the owner donate that frame to you so you can work on it just for shizz and giggles.

hey murray, also look up the tig button. several folks supply them, you have to look them up. the thing is like magic, no moving parts and you can control the amps by squeezing a bit more or less. good luck.

Ive messed with both ZiBr and AlBr. the AlBr was wanting AC tigging. I only put it on the surface just to try it and see the diff between the two. Make sure the surface is CLEAN. Show us pics of your results. I also ran into an older gent who was repairing cast iron with (oxy/acet) some cast rod and...

sounds like the wrong collets for the gas lens. could be a mix up on either end. When you set the collet into the gas lens does the collet stick out a bit? and are the collets the proper size? Stuff does happen.

What I've found .... porta bands are great addition to the tool room. the porta band will give you the same cut as a lower cost band saw, but quicker. dry cut saw is even quicker. abrasive saws make sparks. no matter which saw you choose, there will be pros and cons.

in your final picture, there is a little black piece beside the drive wheel. Is that a piece that came off with the wheel or is that a dark spot on the board? just curious as that might have caused a pinch on the shaft and make the wheel hard to get off. kind of mess up the tolerance.
