Re: Ar me hearties

A bunch of prawns and squid turned up at the shop. Nothing for it but to stop work, get out the bbq and beers. Better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick. Sometimes life’s good. Coldman: not only have you accomplished a great job, you have made some great friends. Life is good. Congrats. Bill

IF it's searing you're interested in, I have this friend who can make stuff happen. Look throughout the forum and find the story about Jed. Anyway, I used both types of handhelds while trying to defrost water valves on the back of my son in laws water truck. The turbo torch seemed to produce hotter ...

Re: What is recommended CFM for fume extraction?

as far as I know, all of the cfm talk is only talk. Purchased a new fan hood so my wife can cook and prevent the smoke alarms from activating and from what we were told by the salesperson we bought the best for smoke removal. I thought the way we were told, the darn thing would be sucking the pots o...

Re: Cutting into Large fuel tanks

Well, the story about Jed is a true story. The neighbor wanted to cut into a tank and he couldn't wait to determine what was previously in the tank. He hit with a oxy torch and he took off like the wright brothers. Maybe I just wanted folks to think about cutting into storage tanks. Sorry if I got y...

Thank you for that information. I suppose I'm too far outside the box and worried about equalization. Being retired fly boy and using too much right aileron.

Oscar, thanks for the information and the time spent in the figuring. I am only wondering ... does one tank overcome the pressure of the other at any point in the use of the gases? OR is it possible to insert one way (anti back pressure) valves in the set up?

Re: Cutting into Large fuel tanks

I'll tell y'all a story about a man named Jed. He wanted to salvage some type of tank and reuse it for a fire pit. Ol Jed couldn't wait to ask what was previously in the tank and he just drug it outside the barn and brought the torch too. He touched the torch off, set it to cut metal and started for...

that's why they come up out of the water the way they do. And when they land back on the surface it scratches the itches. I used to be married to one and that is the way she was in the pool.

I've done that. Are you sure that you're getting gas (ARGON) through the torch? Are you welding on AC? And is the balance set correctly?

Re: Welding stainless or AL. It's contaminated...What now??

Not too good at the stainless deal...yet.....HOWEVER, I do know you want to be very careful when welding the A/C lines. If there is any freon lurking around, you can burn it, convert it to PHOSGENE gas and then you won't have to worry about welding. this might be too much to the point but I really d...

I absolutely LOVE that table. Now for the story of the day ...... I put one together and (being a retired fly boy) am learning about L.B. and the tilt effects of not enough steel on one side. I was comfortably sitting at my table about to do some work.. looking across the table and all of a sudden w...

Is the stainless welding process sensitive to the distance and angle of the gun? Is there a lot of wind or a fan blowing the gas away from the area?
