Re: Video request

I have both tig fingers and really like the way they my "asbestos" fingers from overheating. The problem I am having is keeping them from slipping off my fingers. They seem to want to slip apart from the inside and become cumbersome to me. Is there a way to prevent this from happening. I'v...

Re: Help me See What I'm Doing

I will have to try the cape trick. I am finding a lot of shadows and reflections that are causing sight problems. The light from outdoors is really a bother, but the doors being closed make considerable difference,,,thus,,,the cape trick will be tried. Thank you.

CJ, thanks for that info. I do the same thing with the different buttons on my welder. If you have Richard helping you out, you will get it done the right way. Richard helped me over the phone and once I saw the light come on, it has been great. The payback is .... simply provide help to the next person.

Re: Help Identify TIG Torch heads

can't really see the threaded part of the lug, but my best bet is they are hollow to carry the gas to the torch tip and there is a jamb nut to tighten the cable to the torch head. There is also a handle (that you put over the power cable before attaching to the torch head) that will slide over the c...

Scotty, I also have everlast equipment. When I first started using the plasma, I had messes without a doubt. I started adjusting the amps and found better and cleaner cuts with lower amps (believe it or not). I did notice that moving right along also helped especially with thin sheets. Try experienc...

Re: On off foot switch for scratch Tig

I understand the torch head with the gas valve. I understand scratch start. Does moving the torch away far enough to terminate the arc cause a problem with gas coverage or is there still enough coverage (from original valve setting) while the puddle solidifies OR am I really worrying about nuffin. B...

Re: Silicon Bronze & AL Bronze

OP, Jody uses the SI bronze and AL bronze rods in a demo and used AC for the aluminum rods and DC for the silicone. I did the same and came up looking like a pro. The heat factor also comes into play. You don't want to liquify the base metal, just get it hot and lay the filler on top. Once again, my...

I'm just chiming in here. On the oil cooler welds is it possible that the oil from within is being drawn out from the heat of the tig torch and the cleaning action? I did a tank that had "something" in it and had porosity coming from somewhere even though I cleaned and cleaned before weldi...

I am far from being a top notch professional in TIG welding. What I have "learned" so far is that when the edges of the base metal are not SMOOTH or there is dust or particles in the joint there seems to be a false impression that the base metal is melting and the speed of the weld is affe...

hey there LS, I just came across your post as I was thinking about getting some 4943 Al filler. That is fine looking welding on that aluminum tank. How did you make out using it, does it flow nice etc.?? Does the strength seem to be good?
appreciate your time.

Jon, just wondering what you are using to clean the aluminum. It just appears to me that there is a course wire brush. I'm far from professional on this but I only use a hand held dedicated stainless brush and only near the weld area. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
