Re: Plasma table for a PrimeWeld CUT60

Thank you for the feedback. Well, yeah, no CNC planned in my application, though the CUT60 is technically capable of it, assuming that I read the literature correctly. Nah, I plan on cutting by hand/torch only. I'm a software engineer and get entirely too much of the computer thing during the day. ...

Re: Plasma table for a PrimeWeld CUT60

I would look at the Langmuir Systems table: https://www.langmuirsystems.com/ There's a guy on YouTube that got a Primeweld 225 recently, he's done a lot with the Langmuir Systems, his Channel is AM Custom Fab (Alex Jordan). You guy, but good fabricator. He's got a Hypertherm 45 on his table. He has ...

Re: My gantry crane build

Thanks Alan. Yeah I had seen the variant of a gantry that slid along rails. I decided against that option (WAY against), as it just wouldn't fit my use case scenarios. I needed the gantry to move wherever I needed it to move, however I needed it to move. And so I decided to put it on wheels, just l...

Re: My gantry crane build

Looks really nice. I like how you incorporated the jacks to raise/lower the beam. XLNT help you have helping you paint! ;) Re: divot I think you could use larger casters, but in asphalt you will continue to have this problem, but you could try real wide metal casters, not sure it would be ideal. Re: Undercut?

Great I speed up on the other side [emoji1303]. One thing is that speed will cause that, but with stick, WATCH THE PUDDLE. You should have the electrode angled to blow the slag to the rear of the puddle, but keep the puddle fluid and watch the toes so it doesn't dig in. You wouldn't want to set sti...

less amps or faster speeds.

Even the bottom still has undercut. Move faster. You could use 160 amps if you move fast enough! ;)

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

Speaking of chop saws. I have a Craftsman 10" that I would like to put a metal cutting blade on. It's probably 15 yrs old but still works well but it's been set aside for my Dewalt 12" compound miter saw. Do you think the old Craftsman is up to the task? I would like to give purpose. Care...

San Diego, CA The reason I asked is you had the Everlast i-Tig 200T on your list. I have an i-Tig 201, a very similar machine but not 6010 capable. I honestly haven't run it, was going to try this weekend. Mine is very lightly used, has all the original accessories, plus the Nova pedal I bought. I ...

Re: We need to liven up this forum

That’s why Jody has limited presence here. We know he has the desire to share his knowledge, but reality and time availability limits anyone’s ability to create and maintain such a venture. I think that's partially it, but Jody is known as the Godfather of Welding on YouTube, and I think that's whe...

Thanks! My next question for HF start... can it really interfere with any electronics or electrical signals running through the house when in use? Bluetooth signals, WiFi router? HF is not an issue with bluetooth or wifi, it's when working on automobiles with computers, but if you want to use it yo...

Re: Work boots thread

Hard to find good work boots. I used to be a Red Wing die hard, and in fact I still have a pair, but they were always just a tad tight, even in EE. Since I have switched over to Thorogood and have to say they are the most comfortable work boots made. They have wide sizes and I can wear them for 8+ h...

Re: Primeweld Tig 225 welding cart

Weld tubes with the ID of the bolt through the frame tubes and weld it both ends. One thing I had thought about was to drill a hole in the tube which the nut would fit in, then hold the nut flush in the hole with a magnet, having the nut extending into the tube, then tack/welding around the nut. Is...

Re: Primeweld Tig 225 welding cart

Looks like the stainless failed and it just completely ripped out of the hole? Or am I totally missing something? I ripped it out with a crescent wrench trying to get the bolt out. I did use anti-seize. This was the 2nd one, the first one was welded in solid and I snapped the bolt off trying to get...

Bad day at the welding table...not too proud to admit it... This is the 2nd nut I burned to a crisp... Although the tube is .093" thick, I had the welder set to 75 amps as the nut is stainless. http://traditionaltoolworks.com/images/wtat-2nd-burned-up-stainless-nut.jpg I ordered some of ...

Re: 1/4 Plate Warp

2 words. Heat Warps. Spread the heat around and limit how much you apply to one area. You can also use chill blocks on it also, to pull some of that heat out while you're welding. One thing on thick material is use adequate amps, if you have the amps low it will take a long time to heat the material...

If I was setting the forum up, I would have an area where everything was laid out for a beginner. I would have an area setup for tig, mig and stick, even oxy/acetylene. Yes, could even be in the respective forums as a sticky, but a place you could point newbies to. There's always a lot of people new...

Jeff would have loved to hire me since way back in the day, but I told him nope, Texas is my home and I'm very comfortable here. I lived in Chicago in the late 90's but that was it. I don't plan on living in any northern state anytime soon. You couldn't get me to move to Chicago even if you gave me...
