Re: Drill Bits. What are y'all using?

I avoid skin contact with diesel fuel, mineral spirits and I won't even use lacquer thinner or MEK inside. Todd, I haven't done any scientific studies or anything, but know that mineral spirits has some type of adverse reaction with my wedding ring and my skin...which is kind of odd as my wedding r...

Are you sure it's not 7000 series (i.e., 7075-T6) ??? I like to mill and turn it on the lathe as it's stronger, but you can't weld it.

Also, do you know if this aluminum came from the marine environment?

I didn't get any of the black gloves. Just some clamps and another TIG finger. I normally just get gloves from my LWS. They have the Tillmans I like and for the cheapest prices I've found, so win-win on good prices and supporting my LWS. Hooray! I have bought all of my gloves from my LWS, but...

Re: Buying a gas bottle?

Check with your gas company because the $250 purchase could be the bottle and gas for the first go around. Refill is priced separately. Yes, in my case it is. That $250 price was for a filled tank, I think it cost about $70 to exchange for a full one. There's a guy on craigslist selling full 125 cf...

Yup. Received mine on Tuesday I think. Very prompt. But he’s also only a couple states away from me, I believe. I used to always get USPS in a couple days, but lately it seems to take close to a week from the east coast.... :( Must be because of the Wuhan plague...although HTP America is in IL. whi...

Re: Strong Hand Tools Cylinder Hanger

Definitely looks handy to have, might have to pick some up. Surprised they would send a weldable kit with plated parts, though. That's odd. No, it's not intended to be welded, AFAIK, that's why they plate it. The steel version of the Hel-Hooks is intended to weld, but it's about the same price and ...

Re: Buying a gas bottle?

Are you sure it's not access to a bottle rather than gas? Most places do swap bottles rather than fill them, but they consider it as you owning a not necessarily the bottle you bought, but you can take that bottle and swap it somewhere else, get it filled, shoot holes in it etc, if you can't take i...

Thanks for your reply. I want to make sure I understand this. Any reason not to do this? The only issue I can see is if I was to move out of state and take the bottle with me. Is it likely I will be able to fill it if I move. Smokey, I think you meant it's "unlikely" you would be able to fill it. Typically the gas vendors mark the bottle on the neck...

FMT drills work really good for me, sharp and stay sharp but with 1 major flaw, they have a round shank. Jay, The Drill Hog bits have a single flat on them as I recall to assist with that. I have seen people claim they're just glorified Wuhan bits similar to Harbor Freight, but I don't know what ot...

Richard,

That looks like the same set I have. Aren't those bits sharp? Mine haven't dulled in over a year, they seem to stay sharp.

Albeit I won mine in a raffle, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more of them. Great bits, IMO.

I won a set of Drill Hot bits at the Bar Z Bash last year and they have not disappointed. They are sharp and haven't dulled at bit in over a year.

I have the Molybdenum M7 bits. I can't speak too highly of them.
