All we have for metal, besides what you see, is a drill press Yeah, I got one of those...forgot...I have much more down at a yard I rent, but those are going to the lake...industrial table saw, 24" woodworking planer, 2 jointers, South Bend Heavy 10, Boyce Crane scroll saw, sawmill, et all... ...

Re: Testing some stick on the Primeweld 225...

Looks like a different rod altogether. It does, I'll give you that... Even the 5/32" and 1/8" look different color reds, I've read online that some brick red is different color, not sure how that plays out. I would almost guess the lighter ones were 6011 looking at them, but they must be ...

Re: What do your welding area/shops look like?

Wow, that's really nice!

My current shop consists of about 10x20 total space, has a 4000 lb. lathe, 2 mills, 2 bandsaws, surface grinder and tool cabinet, I weld on a small 36"x30" table in front of my lathe.

My new shop will be 28'x32' and overlooks a lake. :D

You got that backwards Alan :-) No, actually not...my offer had absolutely no contingencies whatsoever. Ha! I'll be honest, with the flogging I've given that $700 lemon weenie, I'm actually impressed. Its been around almost a decade and It still welds 0.25" aluminum no problem...duty cycle sucks, but it will do it reliably! I've actually heard pretty good things about the AHP, maybe they made im...

Re: How hard to use is a 26 torch?

With a stubby kit it's not that much bigger, but it is slightly bigger. I wouldn't say it's preventative, you'll get used to it. I used a 26 for about a year and a half before getting a CK 17 Flexhead.

Can any of you recommend some decent and friendly (Like WTAT :D ) machining forums? There seems to be a lot of machinist forums, and many seem either a bit unfriendly, or more geared towards machining pros...like the big-guy pros. Thanks for any pointers. Re: Miller vs HTP on thin aluminum

TTW, Just for the record, how much experience do you have welding Aluminum with a Dynasty? Actually none, only steel. I have more experience welding steel on the HTP, but my friend who owns it moved to Austin for work. I do have a friend that does welding for NASA and CNC work and he uses a Dynasty...

Lookin good, Alan. This project is definitely proving that a "15 minute" welding job does NOT exist. Also, I don't know IF you took into consideration--where the tank mounts on the rear tray, the top of the tank will be closer to the welding machine due to the angle . I have a cart and th...

@Dad - I wouldn't interpret Tool's commentary harshly. Forum posts are Tone Deaf. And I think he mixed up you an the OP to this thread. I didn't mean it to be harsh, nor did I mixup the OP. I just found it odd that Todd has an opinion towards the HTP when he hasn't welded any aluminum at all on his...

Re: Miller vs HTP on thin aluminum

Alan, you're right. I don't "know" that the asymetric wave options will make it easier for PKele to weld thin aluminum. I wouldn't get too caught up with technical details on paper, that 210DX will weld just about anything you need to, even without the software card...many people using th...

For the bottle rack, put a cradle in the back & on one side, then cut off an old C Clamp & use the screw & swivel on the other side to clamp bottle to side cradle. That's not a bad idea, I might have some clamps laying around. I'll need to think about that, I know straps are not idea, b...

Re: Miller vs HTP on thin aluminum

You have a Miller mig and a Miller plasma, why not consider the Dynasty 210dx rather than the Synchrowave 210 ??? In all honestly though, your AHP will probably handle the type of welding you're talking about doing. Seems like you're talking about 30-150 amps, doesn't the AHP cover that range? The s...

I've always thought of Ieff as RMS current, and Imax as peak current. Most of these inverter welders do not have proper power factor correction I find that most of the inverters seem to have it, although not all, but many of them do. When transformer machines were the norm it was an add-on, like on...

Yes, the DV has PFC but the SV doesn't. This is per Jeff Nolan and the numbers they post for each model.

Is the Evo Rage a slow RPM saw (i.e., 1450 RPM)?

That's what I was trying to compare, most wood cutting miter saws are 3450 RPM.

Re: Testing some stick on the Primeweld 225...

I wouldn't say that is the case. I'm pretty sure it will weld up to whatever amperage the 120V circuit will allow before popping the breaker. I think that is just the rating Lincoln chose to specify, for whatever reason. Yes, but it will ONLY do 80 amps of stick on 120v and 80 amps is marginally en...
