if they really want the look tell them to buy a double pulse mig. Not for nothing, but if the boss has his mind set on what he wants, it's not often advisable to start telling him how to do it... Re: Chinesium WP-26F 250 amp torch head, fact or fiction?
Pinched collets cause gas issues. I had a hard time figuring that out when I was first starting to tig, mainly because I could loosen the back cap and put a new tungsten in, so it took me a while to open the entire torch to figure out what was going on when I saw I had destroyed the collet for the ...

Re: Cameron Drill Press Model 214 Variable Speed Control
That's a sweet tool Spartan! Good for sensitive drilling, very handy to have for some of the small/fine work. Not a lot of the small ones around, that was a great find! The speed control makes it that much more useful, you can tune it to the material you're cutting. ;) EDIT: Oh, I thought you bought...

Re: New Toy
Spartan, I have some DNMG inserts that are almost identical to those other than shape. They work well, that black finish is primarily for steel, at least my understanding. The gold finish is often slightly more durable, but similar, and there's a shiny silver that is often used for aluminum. As you ...

Re: Chinesium WP-26F 250 amp torch head, fact or fiction?
I recently welded out some 10inch slip on carbon flanges. Used a 17 torch running 180 amps. Used 3/32 filler. Got one pass taking about 3 full, 3ft filler rods per pass. Before the torch got too hot to hold, and the power cord going to the torch, would get hot enough to burn skin. But it still func...

Re: Testing some stick on the Primeweld 225...
In regards to the XMT 300 and Idealarc 250, I believe the orginal XMT 300's only went to around 225 amps in single phase I believe you're correct, could even be on the latest models of the 300 cc/cv. In 3 phase it will get up to 375 amps. It requires 42 amps of 3 phase and I'll have 55 amps availab...

Re: Does anyone selll pre-bent square stock?
I don't think load is the largest concern, but rather balance and counterweight of the setup. A log (dead load) at the end of the leg will tend to topple the square stock. As long as you've designed and considered how to restrain the carrier, you'll likely be fine. I would probably just weld it to ...

I say fiction, like everyone else. That's the same one I have on my TIG torch holder (the wireless WiFi model ) Are you saying I got one of the wireless models for only $12 ??? Must be my lucky day! That was worth a 2 month wait! :P I think it will be fine for my use. If I'm not mistaken, a 26...

The only sawmill I have ever used had a hydraulic rig that rotated the log for you. Even held it for the first cut if needed. I can only wish I had hydraulic on my sawmill. It is a project I'd like to take on, maybe one day, it would solve a lot of things other than turning logs, but not in my near...

Re: New Toy
As a follow up to Spartan's thread, I did mention to him in a PM that I saw they do refer to the CNMG inserts as being neutral for the insert, which actually makes sense as there is no rake on the insert themselves, but the holders have the negative rake on them, or in the case of the CCMT as an exa...

Re: Chinesium WP-26F 250 amp torch head, fact or fiction?
It's all marketing. My guess: You could probably run that 26 at 250 amps for a few mins at a time on DC, but not much more than that. That was kind of my take also, but suspect it could be run for more than a few minutes at 225 before it burned up. It would probably get pretty darn hot running, but...

Re: Testing some stick on the Primeweld 225...
However I would've bought that idealarc 250 for 75$ in a heartbeat, even though on DC it wouldn't do anything my Invertec 275s wouldn't do better they still have a reputation as fantastic stick welders and I usually see them around here for a whole lot more, so for $75 I'd get the thing just for ru...

Re: New Toy
Certainly. I think our words got lost in the text translation a bit. I simply meant that the insert itself is a 0 degree relief angle (or 90 degrees as you mentioned...same angle, different perspective) unlike the positive rake inserts, and that the tool holder takes that 0/90 degree insert and ang...

Chinesium WP-26F 250 amp torch head, fact or fiction?
Can a Chinese 26 Flexhead torch really get 250 amps on DC ? I ordered this flexhead torch, just the head, about 2 months ago...the tracking was horrendous and I will most likely never buy another product from the company again. It was off Amazon. So, here's my question...lately there's a number of W...

Re: New Toy
You may be right that the "N" in CNMG is for negative, but I've always thought of it as "neutral" since the rake angle is at 0 degrees on the insert, and set by the tool itself. No, if you have 0 degree rake looking at the holder from the side, you have the wrong insert in the h...

Re: Testing some stick on the Primeweld 225...
Actually a few people report that the $260 Harbor Freight Titanium stick 225 welder will run 6010 with no problems. So if you are looking for an inexpensive lunch box stick welder, that is always an option. Only problem I have with that machine is the duty cycle. It's like 20% at the top end... :o ...

Just a heads up for any of you Primeweld owners... There's a guy on YT that just got a Primeweld recently, I've seen some of his videos in the past, but he's a really good fabricator and does a lot of plasma CNC stuff...anyway, he recently sold his Miller Synchrowave 250 and bought a Primeweld, seem...

Re: Testing some stick on the Primeweld 225...
Could very well be that it has a lot of arc-force built-in, but in the end the real test is long-arc'ing it in a whip-n-pause type of movement, and see if it snuffs out. You can't properly run 6010 with the electrode buried in the puddle the whole time in every situation. You can easily pop a keyho...

Re: Testing some stick on the Primeweld 225...
6010 seems to be some kind of 'benchmark' test for a welding machine. Wondering if someone can educate me on why this is. It's one of the "toughest" rods to run. Meaning after the initial arc strike, if there is not enough arc voltage, the arc can immediately snuff out, or in a best case ...

CNMGs (43x) are my go-to inserts for all of my lathe tooling on the Aloris tool post. Probably have a few hundred of them. If/when I buy more insert-capable tool holders for this mill, I will certainly be seeking out ones compatible with those CNMGs. Depending on the ability of the lathe, CNMG migh...

Re: Testing some stick on the Primeweld 225...
6010 seems to be some kind of 'benchmark' test for a welding machine. Wondering if someone can educate me on why this is. It's just harder to run and many welders have a difficult time running it, that is especially true of welders without a cellulose mode. I think it has to do with the higher arc ...
