Re: Preheating 4130 .120 wall tubing, propane/oxy or inducti

I know acetylene would be ideal, but I'm living in an apartment complex and it's a bit off limits. Never gotten into heavy wall 4130 before so preheat used to never be a worry. I know it will likely take way longer to get up to the 300*F preheat I'm after, but would the prolonged heating cause any ...

Re: Beginner Q: one welder to do it all?

I am a weekend warrior hobbyist, having taken one lesson in late 2016. Started with a Lincoln 140HD, sold it, and now I have a 210MP. Now I am getting interested in getting a TIG machine (specifically the HTP Intertig 211, water cooled 240 V) and was wondering if TIG would be enough as the only wel...

Re: Barn find Lathe

[6013 is use for low penatoin not good for plate
The flux core will do good job of welding 3/8" plate
Try E71T-11

Re: Barn find Lathe

One of my customers did a clean up in a junk room and uncovered a lathe. I've been looking for a cheap older but reasonable lathe for my shop for basic repair work - bushes, shafts etc. so I would offer to buy if I knew it was any good. I've read what I find on the web which is not very much. I tak...

Since, I believe, a Mig machine is a constant amperage (current) machine am I correct that, after I make all of the proper set-up connections, the only Tig welding I could do with a 200 amp mig machine would be at 200 amps?
