Re: Got my welding certs and can't find a job

I have the opposite problem. I have ~6 years experience in dual shield MIG, 5 years in stick, 2 years in TIG, no certs but I certainly have the experience. Everyone I talk to and test for ends up picking someone with certs but no experience. I also am having a VERY hard time finding anyone in the Pu...

Re: Help identifying a machine

Check for an ID tag on the back of the machine. It should list the model and serial number. Should also list the primary and secondary amperage and voltage ratings. Will also tell you if it’s a single or three phase powered machine. The tag was in the front of the machine, there are no tags anywher...

Re: Help identifying a machine

I spent too much time searching the net last night, trying to find info on that welder. No luck at all. Looks like Coldman nailed it. You gotta love the helpful folks on this forum. You can't beat the amount of experiance that this forum has. I honestly should ask more questions here... Sent from m...

Re: Help identifying a machine

Here's a 650 and a 450, very similar. Hobart-Mega-Flex-650-RVS-Welder-3359.jpg Hobart-Mega-Flex-450-Rvs-Welder-Hobart-2000.jpg Its hard to see in the pictures, does the amp guage on the 450 go to 800 like it does on the 650? Judging by the width it looks like I've got myself a 450. Sent from my SM-...

Re: Help identifying a machine

Maybe on paper but the resemblance is suggestive. Also they outsourced everything over 250 amps for long before they got bought out. Well I managed to get ahold of someone at Miller and sent them pictures, we will see what comes of it. After all of my googling I'm almost certain it's a Hobart Mega-...

Edit
Hobart is Miller and it’s cream/white.
ITW (Millers parent company) didn't aquire Hobart until 1996.

Re: Help identifying a machine

It’s a miller! I’m not sure what model but no doubt about it. From the 5 pin connection I’d say mid 70’s to mid 80’s. I cant find any pictures of anything earlier than a Deltaweld 450, which is a different layout woth gauges on the opposite side of the face. I scratched some of the paint off, then ...

Help identifying a machine

Hey ya'll, My boss set aside a machine he bought a few years back when his company started growing and never ended up utilizing it. I've been bugging him about letting me take it for a while now, and where it was being stored is getting turned into offices so he is letting me take her home. I need s...

Arc80 DC Inverter start method

Attached is two sections I cropped from the machines user manual. The first part describes lift start, as does all the information I can find about the machine across the 3 names it's sold under. The instructions clearly paint a different picture though. From the user reviews I've read of people try...
