Re: Change Waveshape on Miller Dyansty 200 DX

My unit is a 2013 model according to the serial number and what the Miller rep told me. The manual does cover what needs to be done to access the waveshape function, though in my case the code for the AC function was different than what the manual specified. One point worth adding after mentioning t...

Re: Change Waveshape on Miller Dyansty 200 DX

I had a long chat with one of the Miller tech reps and he was VERY helpful. It turns out the the manual called out the incorrect code for the the Waveforms - it IS "Ac" in the advanced function menu, not SEL as the manual indicates. Also found out that apparently my reset to default settin...

Re: Aluminum Plug Welds

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I will have to give them a try and see what happens. One of the features of the tank is a cylindrical air/oil separator that will need to withstand the force of the air/oil combination from the pump and I'm skeptical that welding to one side of the tank w...

Re: Change Waveshape on Miller Dyansty 200 DX

cj737, I looked and didn't see any tag that provided a manufacturing date; the manual that came with the unit (purchased new) has a copyright 2012 date on it. This manual also has the info indicating the triangle wave pattern. I think I will try calling Miller tomorrow and see what they say about it...

Change Waveshape on Miller Dyansty 200 DX

I'm trying to change the waveshape on my Dynasty 200 DX and have found the options on the machine itself don't match all the options identified in the Advanced Functions portion of the manual and specifically the Waveshape option "SEL" does not appear on the display at all. In checking Mil...

Aluminum Plug Welds

I'm looking for advice on plug welds. I have searched the other posts and found some information, but I'm hoping someone can provide some additional suggestions. I'm building a dry sump oil tank (all new construction) out of .050" 3003 Aluminum and using 1100 filler rod. I have a Miller Dynasty...

Re: Small TIG Weld Beads

Louie1961,

You may be right, something else for me to look into. The shorter point on the electrode accomplishes this as well. Thank you for the suggestion.

Re: Small TIG Weld Beads

cj737,

Thanks again for the tip on the electrode shape - worked just like you said it would, definitely a 'eureka' moment for me.

I will use your suggestions on aluminum when I get to that project.

Re: Small TIG Weld Beads

cj737 - thank you for the tips, I'll give them a try. It sounds like the nice tapered electrode is at least one of my problems.

Small TIG Weld Beads

I typically TIG weld 1/16" steel parts and will be working on aluminum of similar thickness in the near future. My welds tend to be bigger than they need to be (~ 1/8" wide or so) and I'd like to know how to get the beads smaller. I typically try to use a .040 electrode and a similar size ...
