What gauge of wire should I use

I need to put in a 220 receptacle for a plasma cutter, it calls for a 20 amp circuit breaker so what gauge of wire should I use between the breaker box and the receptacle? It will be somewhere between 2 feet and 8 feet in length.

Re: Plasma cutting .030 copper sheet

On a sheet that thin, you can move VERY rapidly, minimizing heat input. The trick here is to have cutting guides in place. Trying to free-hand such thin material accurately is difficult at best, and slows you down adding to distortion. Fences for straight lines, templates for curves. The faster you...

Re: Oxy-Propane cutting torch not working

I use oxy acetylene so I can't say what the pressure to use. For cutting you open the oxy valve on the bottom wide open then turn on gas , light and adjust the flame to neutral with the upper valve. Now get the metal hot and press the lever and it should cut. You need to get the edge where your star...

Re: Brass rose

Maybe I need to clarify myself, I'm not a great communicator. There are 5 pieces that make up the petals, they are first a circle and then cut and trimmed to make the petals. So the bottom piece is one piece with 6 petals next piece is smaller in diameter with 6 petals, next piece is smaller in diam...

Re: Brass rose

Very NICE!! +1 Although I'm still not sure how you attached them... Stem is brass so I got a brass washer and slid it on the stem and used silver solder to hold it in place, next i slid the sepal and petals onto the shaft then peened over the top of the stem to hold them tight. Thanks to both of yo...

Re: bolt cutting fire hydrant flange

Heating them up and unbolting them would work but you would use a lot of gas. I would go with as already suggested cutting with the gas axe. I can offer one more suggestion get yourself a rivet cutting tip for your torch, it will allow you the get more of a flush cut. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Brass rose

No welding required in this just some torch work. I silver soldered a washer to the stem for a stop for the petals. Cut them out of brass and textered them with a chipping hammer. They work hardened so then I annealed them and scuffed them with some emery cloth. Install on stem and peen the end and ...

Can a argon/argon co2 regulator be used with straight co2 gas? I know the co2 regulator has a female end and I have seen adaptors so would this be the only difference in the two?

A couple of simple projects to make life easier

First one ...I made a holder for my torches,I can now leave it lit while I position or move something into place. I'm going to add a peg on the clamp section to hang the striker from. Second piece is to hold chain taunt while I weld it.

Re: New Member from Lake Superior region

Thank you, I had seen where you were suppose to get dumped on. We were suppose to get 5 inches here but it missed us and went north. Planing on being up there the end of April, I volunteer the weekend to help get the Meteor ready for the tourist season. Do you go to Indianhead tech school? Stay warm.
