Re: Tig welding 1/2” stainless
Unless you have a free source of Stainless tig rod, I think the cost of filler will be similar across the three methods. Time required will be the big factor.

Re: What kind of clamp is this?
Don't take that answer wrong. It is pretty standard to weld up your own when it comes to third hands. Make them in a size appropriate to the task at hand. I suggest a dab of silicone bronze at the tips to prevent arcing due to weak contact. Jody does a video where he forms a bird head out of SB for ...

Re: Overheating work clamp
Bad connection. Either where the wire meets the clamp, or the jaws of the clamp not making a good connection on the work. I would look real close at the connection of the ground wire to the clamp.

I'm wondering how many folks have visited the Miller web site, between reading my last post, and this one.
Ha, Ha, made you look.

I'm going to remember you said that. Miller just announced the new Dynasty 800 coming in May.

I also think that 325 amps of AC is too much for 1/8" tungsten.

Cj737,
When you are tig welding, sitting at your bench, and waiting on a nice bite. Are you by chance wearing a PFD?

Re: The value of somebody watching your welds
Please don't think I was saying that there was something wrong with Richards foot pedal. It worked just fine when it was under his foot. It just has a different feel than what I am used to. The difference made me focus on my foot, and I'm not experienced enough to let my torch hand run on automatic ...

"Welding builds such deep Bromances"
Of course it does, after all, it is a 'bonding' subject.

The value of somebody watching your welds
A week ago today, I spent the afternoon with LtBadd from this forum. I had sent him a PM, asking if we could get together, so he could give me some pointers on my Tig welding. I just finally got a TIG machine late last summer, and I'm a Noobie. I have watched a number of Youtube videos by Jody, and ...

Re: Everlast 255ext help!!!
I also have a 255EXT. When you say Advanced wave, do you mean Advanced Square (top RH section) or Advanced AC (In the Pulse section)? Advanced AC is a mixed mode that pulses between AC and DC waveforms. It can give you a lot more penetration at a given amperage than normal AC. Jody does a demo of th...

Any reason to keep A/C welder?
My new Everlast 255EXT arrived today. I also have a 180 Mig Unit, a nice Plasma cutter, and an old Lincoln 225 Tombstone AC unit. Is there any reason to keep the old Lincoln 225 ? I can't think of anything it can do, that the others can't. Am I missing something here? Going to put them all on one ca...
