TIG - Electric Shock + Dirty Weld Pool
PART 1 I was TIG welding today (well using the TIG welder to make a black sooty blobby mess lol) and got an electric shock from the welder. I think the shock came up through the filler rod. I felt it go across my chest and it was quite a nasty surprise. Has anybody else got a shock from their machin...

Re: TIG Weld Aluminium - No Arc
I took the unit back to the seller's service area and had their bloke weld some aluminium. He gave me some hands on tips which was great. Eventually the issue I have been happening (not maintaining an arc) started for him. A gas change showed it not to be gas related so he concluded the unit has an ...

Re: TIG Weld Aluminium - No Arc
More practice. It's getting quite expensive buying all this aluminium to weld!! Several things I have discovered; I was moving too slow. I have started to move faster and the stack o'dimes effect now shows snapping off the end of the tungsten does seem to help clean things up a bit I have been tryin...

Re: TIG Weld Aluminium - No Arc
Not yet as not been in shed. I think your suggestion appears to be related more to poor steel welding whereas my issue is with aluminium. I was able to tig steel quite well (for a first timer).Junior Welder wrote:Sorry about posting to the wrong thread.
Did you try the test I suggested?

Re: TIG Weld Aluminium - No Arc
@cj737 - when you say 70% on the balance I assume that is 70% EN? It gets confusing with different machines working back t front on AC balance. Thanks for the tips. @Junior - I have watched a fair few and look at more each day. Helpful stuff - will look to purchase his DVDs I have spoken with the we...

TIG Issue - No Arc but No Changes
I am sorry for this being another newbie asking about TIG issues....... I have only just bought my TIG and am in the process of teaching myself (using the forums and YouTube videos). I am looking around for an evening course to do. I bought this; https://www.welding.com.au/equipment/view/weldarc-200...

Greetings from Oz
Hi there. Been a hobbyist MIG welder (steel only) for 5 or 6 years and am good enough to get by. Certainly no Michelangelo! Mainly use the MIG for car repairs/race car building. I have recently bought a TIG and am in the process of teaching myself. I need it for welding aluminium as previously I hav...
