Darrin, yeah, I believe so. When I look online it says "will fit the following...".
Thanks. I'll order some bits today.

Re: TIG torches etc... so many options?!
Nice, I’ve got an SML alto, don’t play anymore but can’t bring myself to let it go1!!!!! I think most twigs are shipped with a wp17 torch as standard?? I like the wp9 as it is smaller and still runs enough amps for most jobs. Ive got a 200 amp A/C machine and love the WP9 torch. Yep, its a wp17. So...

Re: Weld build-up of case hardened small part
Thanks Weldmonger. I'll give that a try.cj737 wrote:You need small diameter wire, ER70 works fine. And I mean small diameter, like 0.045 or smaller. Controlling the fill is your greatest trick. As said, after welding build up, anneal it before hardening. This is a job for TIG not MIG.

TIG torches etc... so many options?!

Trouble is, how do you know which fits? Is there a standard? I did buy some replacement ...

Re: Weld build-up of case hardened small part
It is apparently a low carbon "gun" steel. Vague I know but thats about all I have. The parts were rough forged prior to machining then cyanide solution case hardening.LtBadd wrote:Do you know what the material is, if not how will you select the filler?

Weld build-up of case hardened small part
Hey guys, wonder if anyone could tell me about welding small case hardened parts, which can be then re-case hardened, including the weld/build-up? I have a number of Winchester rifles that I am looking to restore. They all have one thing in common which needs attention. If I say its a sort of case h...
