Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

I'll add a couple things. First one is the connection point on an old farm boom sprayer. It was a 11:00pm quick job had to have it by morning on our family farm. Metal was very thin. Took my time to try to fill some other bug holes some of which kept blowing out, but I got them filled. Not very pret...

Re: Weldpro MIG210 LCD or Klutch MP251Si LCD for MIG Anyone?

Looking to upgrade on my old Hobart 180 MIG with something with LED / LCD with lot of adjustability for around $1000. I like to be able to adjust Inductance, Torch Trigger 2T 4T, Spot Time, Pre & Post Gas, Run In WFS. I looked though many welders in this price range the only two that have fine ...

Good deal I'll check it out. I don't see replacing my Primeweld 225, as I've only used it a few times, but I like seeing new stuff hit the market.

Re: Which process is ok to use?

I was thinking that would be the answer. I was hoping for more insight from a few people. I have been looking around for a little while. I ran across this one a few days ago. https://www.homedepot.com/p/AMICO-POWER-Amico-160-Amp-Stick-arc-MMA-Inverter-DC-Welder-110-Volt-and-230-Volt-Dual-Voltage-We...

Re: Which process is ok to use?

20201124_151142.jpg Being relatively new to welding, I do a lot of reading. So I understand the dangers of taking on projects that might be a little dangerous. My latest project is a trailer mounted bbq pit. Here in the south (Arkansas), they're all over the place. I found a little rig that was pro...

Re: foot pedal

Thanks guys. I think I bought the wrong hand control. I bought the hand control, bottom link, unit that Thatkid2diesel gave a link to. I think I have about ten minutes into that unit. It sits in the bottom of my tool box. If the button control is simply a start switch, I think I could work with it....

Re: Making a Cart from A US General Box

I had weekend guests, so that killed several days. I finally got enough metric bolts to put the base on the cart. Today I welded the rigid casters to the tubing and bolted the cart to the base. I put the casters out on the end. I get a bigger turning radius, which is bad, but I didn't like the idea...

I just started a new job, and where I work supplies lenses and has keeps certain replacements on hand for their shop hoods and the A50s that several people use. I was invited to pick a helmet to take home and use out of the ones they had on hand and they had some newer but beat up miller digital el...

Re: Miller has a new Multimatic

Maybe someone can shed some light for me. In the specs for this new welder when compared to the Multimatic 215 and the Multimatic 220 ac/dc, it states that it can use the 300cf bottle but the 215 and the 220 are limited to 125cf bottles. I just assumed you could hook any size bottle to any machine a...

Re: Drill Bits. What are y'all using?

My only complaint about drill hog is I lost my 1/2 inch in a wall on a customer's site and I couldn't retrieve it. I contacted drill hog about purchasing a 1/2 separately to replace mine but I never got a response. I tried multiple times to get a hold of them and nothing. I ended up replacing it wit...

Hey everyone, I think like a heap of other people I've used COVID-19 as the push I needed to get out and try welding. It's something I've always wanted to do so a few weeks ago I went a bought myself a stick welding setup. I've been playing around with some scrap steel and some different electrodes...

I am looking to get a higher duty spool gun than my Magnum 100SG which is only 130 amp. I have a Lincoln Mig PAK 180. What options are my options for 200 amp or higher spool gun? I don’t want to upgrade my welder as it has enough power to weld 3/16 aluminum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I hav...

Re: Wearing Safety Glasses Under Hood - TIG Welding

At the local college where I took some night classes, they required it for all forms of welding. At home, I never do. Mainly because they fog up on me and I'm constantly fighting that while welding. Truth be told, in the booth at the college when I was running on a test plate I would usually slip th...

Re: Welding helmets with better vision

Hoods are like rifle scopes. Once you splurge on a top-of-the-line scope and stop using the budget scopes from Walmart, you'll see what you've been missing and never go back to the cheapies. It's all about the optics and that costs money. Money well spent. I agree whole heartedly. I had a auto arc ...

Re: Welding helmets with better vision

I personally have a 3M Speedglas 9100xxi, but that is closer to 400 than 300. I bought it because of the clarity and the sides have shade so it's kind of like a panoramic view. I to have heard good things about that Lincoln. 250-300 is a really good budget. The Miller digital infinity is a good opti...

Re: Looking for some constructive criticism

Welds look solid. I would agree that you may want to try to plant that torch hand at least part of your wrist to have a solid place to steady and to be able to slide. That may require you to choke up on the torch a little more.

What cfh is used for tig welding and mig welding steel or aluminum? Tig welding I run 15-20cfh as I'm usually inside a garage. Mig welding I'm normally outside so if there is little to no wind I run 20cfh, but sometimes I do kick up to 25cfh and block the wind best I can with a piece of cardboard. ...
