Re: Tapped Holes on Welding Table

The FabNut (and/or FabSpacer) might be an option for you: https://weldtables.com/collections/clamps-accessories/products/fbn-1-fabnut-3-8-16-t-nut https://weldtables.com/collections/clamps-accessories/products/fbs-2-fabnut-3-8-16-round-spacer The FabNut can be somewhat inconvenient to install on the...

Re: CertiFlat Fab Horses opinions wanted

I have no legitimate opinion on the fabHorses so take this FWIW.... I want to use them on top of an asphalt driveway. This suggests you'll be dragging 60+ lb fabHorses to/from your shop to the driveway, on a semi-regular basis. I'm not in my 20's anymore, so I'll suggest..... as you age, this proces...

Re: Dynasty 280dx

FWIW.... the Dynasty 210 owner's manual states in Section 4-2 (and I'll quote the first line):

This equipment will deliver rated output at an ambient air temperature up to 104 F (40 C)

Re: 1/8" Aluminum - how much penetration should be expected

Never figured I was that far off on the AMPs...... so many thx for the suggestions. Bumped the AMPs up, as suggested, & ran a few test pieces. Took me awhile to recognize when to back the pedal off & by how much (to be expected at my skill level :) ). Settled on a max of 175 AMPs..... the re...

1/8" Aluminum - how much penetration should be expected ?

Newbie welder here..... trying my hand at aluminum (for the first time)..... In these photos, on the backside, (2nd photo) there is virtually no visible penetration in the yellow area. Is this a problem ? And if so, why is the penetration lacking ? Travel speed too fast, is about all I can think of....

Re: Lay Wire Technique on a T Joint - trying to self diagnos

Thx for the comments / direction, cj737. One of my flaws is not having a good grasp of the welding nomenclature. For example, "torch angle" + "leaning too far back". There's so many angles / orientations at play, I'm probably missing something. Bear with me while I attempt to de-...

Lay Wire Technique on a T Joint - trying to self diagnose

Inexperienced welder here. That said, my butt joint / outside corner joints aren't great but I'd like to think --> passible. So now I've started practicing T joints & am failing miserably. My self diagnosis is drawing a blank (with respect to what I am doing wrong & what needs to change) on ...

Re: Gas Lens vs Gas Saver Lens - any preference ?

they are the same thing. however there is a couple of different types. unfortunately i have not got my head around all the different parts numbers etc. Yeah, I tend to agree (but I'm a rookie so me agreeing doesn't count for much :)). There's a lot of different part numbers when looking at just the...

Gas Lens vs Gas Saver Lens - any preference ?

Responses to my last thread (https://forum.weldingtipsandtricks.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14184) convinced me I should give gas lens a try........ and go for "better welds" vs expecting much in gas savings. I'm listening. :) Going down this path, I see there's "gas lens" & ...

Increasing Number of Displayed Posts per Page

Is there an option to increase the number of displayed posts per page ? As it is, I get to see approximately 7-10 posts per page...... before I have to select the next page. I'd prefer to see about 50 posts per page and thus reduce the unnecessary clicks to read the entire thread. Most forums have a...

What are the expectations/savings - switching to a gas lens?

How much, if any, can one expect to save/reduce on Argon usage, if I switch from (say) a regular Alumina #7 cup, to the equivalent in a gas lens ? or large diameter gas lens ? History I'm a newb / wannabee / hobbyist welder typical 1/16" or 3/32" tungsten #20 Weldcraft torch, with #7 Alumi...

Newbie from Toronto

Just a newbie, self taught, MIG welder, looking to get better. aka my welds still look like garbage & my grinder can attest to that :) But I'd like to think I know what I don't know..... and in my case, there's lots I don't know. On the flip side, lots to learn. Hopefully my rookie/noob question...
