Re: modified oil pan for Ford 4.6L SOHC race engine

That sounds awesome. Our Honda moves along very fast because it’s so light. Can’t imagine having 500hp Happy you understand the upgrades you made[emoji16]tried to rebuild a Kawasaki 17hp twin cylinder vertical engine this spring. It ran a short while and bent a rod, ruining the valve seats and one h...

Re: Fcaw-g vs fcaw-s vs smaw

We had steady rain during the night and the wind didn’t sound all that bad. Woke up to a messy driveway and a few downed, tired looking branches. For background I do care about quality when it comes to projects that could effect others. Have been reading and studying welding for maybe 10 years. Very...

Impressed by the amount of effort you are expelling on this beam.

You already know I'm not qualified but those welds are looking better to me. This is really good, real life, experience to be witnessing. Because you are being responsible and working out a weld schedule.

Re: Hello from Washington State

Hi from Cape Cod,

You are not the only one. There are several of us learning. Check the project section for ideas and maybe post some of the work you have done. More pictures the better.

Be more specific about what equipment you mean. There are all kinds of equipment in the shop.

Re: Hobbyist Welding Table Build

Good idea. It's been difficult to get ground on that table. Lots of hit trigger and wire knocks over work piece. Can you see I have some bare copper wire attached to ground like Jody had in a video ages ago. That worked good on that part because I have it directly on the bolt in picture 7. What I ba...

Hobbyist Welding Table Build

The table from weldtables.com or commonly known as CeriFlat was the first thing I ever welded. Don't have pictures of the actual welding. It's slightly over welded and would have been plenty strong with less weld. The table came delivered bolted to three boards. I had already planned ahead that I wa...

Thank you Oscar,

I apologize if I offended you. That was straight up honest.

By the way, I buy expensive stuff for hobbies also. Just spread out a little more.

My brother Chris is a Physicist and works in Perrysburg, Ohio. Not exactly taking the easy way out!

Peace on Earth

Simclardy, I’m sure Oscar means we’ll but he makes me skeptical of his real knowledge. I asked him last week to post pictures of his work and he said he didn’t have any or anytime to make stuff. Make sure you are aware of the background of the information providers. Honesty and integrity are no long...

CJ737, You are correct and the poster who sent in the Miller analogy did not read the thread completely before posting. The original poster has no experience. Then he was given advice. Then told to change stuff. Then it got muddy. We are talking about an original poster who went to Lowes for electri...

Re: Question about posting pictures

I’m uploading from an IPhone 8 Plus for some photos and a Canon 70D for others. The reason I know they are compressing the shit out of these photos is not just by visual cues. You can send in a 20 mb picture file and the site compressed it to 25 kb. I know that they are compressing the pictures I di...

Re: Question about posting pictures

Yes, but they are compressing the daylights out of them. For example they are compressed down to 25 KB That is wether you send in high or low resolution. The picture quality suffers dramatically. Why not try compressing them to your old standard of 250 KB That’s at least worth a try? Sent from my iP...

If One1 ever wants to share more information about his gear and bounce some ideas back and forth. I'm willing to help figure out ways to get the best shot with what you have. It would help to know the model of camera so I can download and read the manual. Then I could also find accessories and then ...

Have noticed that the picture compression being used by the forum is highly aggressive. Could the compression be lessened so the quality of pictures is higher?

Re: Trouble with stick welder

CJ737 is correct in this situation. Not only should the machine be opened and checked but also, the electric service and electric panel of the shop. Hiring a pro to actually visit the site would be smart. You are dealing with an original poster with no knowledge, very few pictures and people making ...
