That is a beautiful piece of art.

Not sure if GTAW was used or not.

snot on the rod

Believable and valid points. Only reason for trying them myself was to see the contrast between the gas lens and a standard cup. In the future it gives me a better perspective of what kind of higher end stuff to try later. Definitely want to get CK level gear down the road. Got the idea to try the c...

Re: Fcaw-g vs fcaw-s vs smaw

That looks like money from here. Looks straight enough, the welds looked good and the photos are really good also. Be interesting to hear what comments come from people who do this kind of heavy welds everyday. It's fascinating to see the level of thought and skill that goes into doing this kind of ...

Re: #5 Aluminum Pro Kit - #17, 18, 26

Good question. I don't think it's worth the hassle setting up a business just yet. Another reason I got a bigger cylinder was to honestly avoid having to deal with LWS. Another reason I got a good flow meter was to be frugal with the gas. They wanted something like a $240 deposit and then a monthly ...

I thought you were looking for a 280 amp class machine or bigger. How much is the 230 amp Magic Wave selling for. And does the price include a pedal and torch. Miller is probably spectacular but you are paying $1,500 more than HTP in the 200 amp class. You can buy a nice cart, cylinder and hood with...

Re: 185dv vs 200dv

It might be a good idea to get the higher amp machine, if you are going into this already knowing you want to weld 1/4 aluminum. You might kick yourself in the ass later for not going big now. I’m a hobbyist also. Ended up buying a 200amp machine based on my predicted needs over the next few years. ...

Re: #5 Aluminum Pro Kit - #17, 18, 26

Here my LWS is located off Cape Cod in Plymouth MA. I called them the week before I bought my GTAW and was told. 1. They were big into renting stuff as opposed to me buying. 2. The biggest bottle they would rent me was 80cf. 3. The cost to refill an 80 cf was only $10 less than refilling the 125 cf....

I agree. Just meant it’s not in full circulation as of yet.

One thing is for sure. Miller has competition in the “kitchen”.

HTP and Fronius seem to be on the cutting edge and obviously have the consumers attention. We are all lucky to have choices so good.

Ok, just read every reply and the information provided helped my understanding. I remember when Mr. Tig was active YouTube. Viewed him as an authority because he was so arrogant and sure of himself. I was watching him long before owning a welding machine and did not have a point of reference in expe...

Can't judge the welds or the stiffener plate design due to lack of knowledge. Would like to comment on the fact the welded beam looks very clean and straight just judging from the photos. If you end up burning another plate on the opposite side or not the project gets a thumbs up for looking clean. ...

Re: Getting arc shots

If you buy a set of Extension Tubes from Amazon. Get the ones that have electric contacts so you can change aperture while using them. That 50mm lens you have is very good and it becomes a macro lens if you add extension tubes. The tubes come with all the math magnification charts included. That's b...

Re: Dynasty 280dx

Fronius appears to have excellent marketing of their product but actual Dealers might be spread further geographically than Miller. If I was in your shoes I would want to test drive a Fronius before spending money on a used Miller. And that Invertig 221 looks like a real winner for its class. If any...

Re: MIG IS EASY ? compared to what ? crucifiction?

For the hell of it try welding without wearing glasses under your hood. Just use the cheater lens inside.

I wear trifocals and can see much better without wearing glasses under the hood than with them. I just use a 2x cheater in the hood. [emoji106]

You can buy a 125 cf argon cylinder full of gas delivered to your door for free from Amazon. Have done this and was very happy. More than half the price of my LWS

AHP Pedal...the Kiss of Death?

It took me a month to get a groove on with the Nova pedal that came with my AHP welder. My guess would be that it is fairly normal to struggle no matter what foot pedal you have. What has my curiosity at the moment is the SSC 4 position tig hand controller that sells for $130. It comes with 25’ of c...

Oh no, Ordered wedge collets hoping it would be easier to remove contaminated tungsten over the split variety. What I have noticed, my tungsten gets caught up in the split collet and I end up needing to remove tungsten with pliers almost every time I get contamination. And lately that has been about...

Have you tried the Chinese gas lenses they sell on Amazon and eBay? I think I got a stubby gas lens kit from Welding City for under $15 through Amazon about a month ago. They have inexpensive Pyrex cups also. With that said I did order some wedge collets from CK hoping they are better than the split...
