Re: ESAB Rebel Stick with and without foot pedal
I have had my Ideal Arc 300/300 TIG for 10 or 12 years and just recently set up to use TIG and the Amptrol. If I leave the Amptrol plugged in and switch on "remote control" the Amptrol varies the amps to the stick lead. It seems that could be useful for stick welding. I am going to play wi...

Re: New to Gas Regulators - Leakage the way they work?
Thanks Guys,
I bought a new regulator. When I have some time I will take the other apart to see what is up, and whether it might be worth fixing if parts are available.

TIG Torch Parts & consumables; Standard?
I have a Tweco H-20 (or HH-20) from ca. 1975.
Are the parts and consumables (collets, gas nozzles) standard for size 20 torches?
Do I need to know anything else to get the right parts?

Back Purging?
New guy to TIG here:
Reading posts that mention back purging when welding stainless. From the context I take that to mean bathing the back of the weld with argon? Is that right?
Is that just to better mitigate contamination of the weld, or are there also other benefits?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: AC/DC TIG Welder that runs on 480 3 Phase power
When I was hunting for my used machine, I found that relatively inexpensive (older) 3 Phase machines were common on craigslist. I presume because they are in relatively low demand in that type of market.

Re: Gas regulator leaking?
The holes in the housing of the regulator head are, I am guessing, to allow a diaphragm or such to move inside.
This being a 45 year old unit and the regulator not having been used for over a decade, probably some dried up O-ring or diaphragm leaking.
Thanks

Gas regulator leaking?
I am new to TIG and gas regulators. My regulator leaks argon constantly from the holes in the regulator head. Is this the way they work or do I need to repair of replace the regulator? This is an old Smith regulator that came with the Lincoln Idealarc I bought about 12 years ago and just finally got...

New to Gas Regulators - Leakage the way they work?
I have owned my Lincoln Idealarc for about 13 years, but just recently got set up to use the TIG (been using for stick welding). I am using the gas regulator that came with welder.
