Put together a shooting/dualing tree today. Bought the shooting plates off Amazon. Look forward to trying it out. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210323/9c887ae4d0a9b14f827997bab1eea569.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210323/134b5f77609972cf10dba0f5497a8277.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn...

Re: New helmet time

I don’t disagree. I’d say the Lincoln is superior in every way. If my budget allowed I wouldn’t hesitate. Hope you like it.

Re: New helmet time

Don’t know how it compares to Lincoln but I just bought one and it blows away my old cheap helmet. The headgear isn’t that great but in the comments on amazon guys say you can swap it for Lincoln headgear no problem. They even give the item number for the Lincoln headgear. Thanks. The welder is making me look better than I am. It’s nice when a piece of equipment does that.

Re: New to Mig

Finished up my vise project. Added 3 slots on the bench it can go in. All I had was 1/4 inch angle so that’s what I welded together for the bottom plate. Works well. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210215/e471e290d3f1fa925fa1391c6b669fe0.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210215/e53d6d12f16d1...

Re: New to Mig

Hooked up the tank today and tried it out with solid wire. The metal is dirty but the weld area was ground and beveled to shiny metal around the weld. Really enjoying this machine. I don’t plan on going back to flux core. Ever lol. I’ll use my stick machine when I can’t use the gas. https://uploads....

Re: New to Mig

Got it out of the box and played with the flux core it came with today. I’m like it so far. Made a mig gun holder just to see if I could. Didn’t melt the 18 gauge pipe. I’m happy. Will pick up a tank and some solid wire tomorrow probably. We have Airgas close by. I think it’s about $250 for an 80# t...

New to Mig

Have been reading the forum a little while. Just purchased a Hobart 210 MVP mig welder today. Look forward to practicing with it and improving. Have been using a Lincoln stick welder for about a year. Using it 3-4 times a week and love it. Just looking forward to trying something new. After agonizin...

What’s best way to cut expanded metal?

I have oxy acetylene, plasma cutter, metal circular saw, and old trusty cut off wheels at my disposal. Any opinions on what would work best? Not sure the thickness. My buddy is bringing it by the house Sunday for help. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210206/887612e8b8c4c69919aaa7f044ec647e.jpg Se...

Re: Help choosing a beginner Mig machine

I’ve been playing with a Lincoln tombstone a/c machine for the past year. Have probably burned about 30lb total of 6011, 6013, and 7018ac rods. I enjoy it and feel pretty comfortable with it but anything less than 1/8 inch I have a hard time with it getting too hot. I do a lot of woodworking so I’d...

Hello from WV/VA line

Hello everyone. New to the forum with limited experience on my Lincoln Tombstone the past year. I’ve burned quite a few lbs of rods having fun with it but would like to try out a decent mig machine. I posted my question in the mig section. Hope to learn a lot and continue to improve as a hobby/farm ...

Help choosing a beginner Mig machine

Hey guys. I’m new to welding so take it easy in me. I’m looking for a <$1000 mig machine to live in my garage and run off 230v. What I have been looking at is mostly hobby machines from the bigger name company’s. the Lincoln pro-mig 180 ($700) and Hobart 190. ($700) I was curious what you guys thoug...
