Awesome thanks for the reply, I’ve seen these and they look great. I’ll have to get some update photos soon

Building a fixture table
I just realised I never did an update, I ended up chopping the two long lengths of telescoping tube out of the frame and changing them out, and it works reasonably well, it can be a bit difficult to slide (requires two hands) but might require some grease or something. The one thing I regret is a ta...

Re: Building a fixture table
So I’ve got a small update, I’ve decided to cut those rails out that I need to telescope and replace them, getting them out isn’t going to be easy but I’ve blown a small hole Thru when I welded the top down, didn’t think anything of it and filled it, now it defiantly won’t telescope so it’s coming o...

Re: What welder to buy
More feedback, finally got around to swapping out the electrode holder and it’s totally fixed, heaps easier to strike an arc, I have a feeling the original holder was clamping on the flux. Not sure but it’s defiantly fixed, I ended up pulling the holder off my old cig transformer welder. Sent from m...

Re: Building a fixture table
Ok, finally got around to line heating my top, my oxy hoses had a leak so couldn’t use that, ended up using the tig torch, put it up to 100amps and did really quick passes and it worked so well. Now I just have to run the adjacent way a couple of times and it should be Mickey Mouse Sent from my iPho...

Re: Sandblasting at home
So turns out FAD stands for free air delivery, which I think is once you have exhausted the tank that’s what the compressor can punch out. This is the second one, more expensive but doesn’t have as good as output but looks better made. https://www.tradetools.com/product-range/air-compressors/single-...

Re: Sandblasting at home
Yeh the displacement confused me too, pretty much the issue is it’s right at the top of my budget so it’s either this or nothing, I’m only a diyer so it’s borderline just worth paying a company to do it. I’m pretty sure I’m getting this unit and just sucking it up if it’s not 100% perfect, it will d...

Re: Sandblasting at home
Hey fellas, this is the compressor I’m looking at, the main reason I’m looking for the upgrade is because mine is only a cheap $200 job which won’t keep up with my spray gun. https://www.bluedm.com.au/piston-air-compressor-electric-3hp-18-cfm-100l-125-psi/ As for respirator I haven’t got one yet, th...

Re: Sandblasting at home
Hey everyone, for anyone wondering I’ve been researching sandblasting and every unit I see has terrible reviews, I’ve done a bit of digging and from what I can tell you need a massive compressor. The compressor I’m looking at getting is $890 which is a 18cfm 100% duty cycle unit, it looks massive, f...

Re: Sandblasting at home
I have a portable sandblaster for stuff that I need to do outdoors or that won't fit in my blast cabinet, I rarely use it. I understand you won't be able to get that into any sand blast cabinet so you're pretty much relegated to one like you're looking at. Personally, I would get one that is plasti...

Sandblasting at home
Hey guys, I’m tempted to get a sandblaster, does anyone know If these are any good? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210212/da8d9e4495680b89d93ab5ae3fc60020.jpg This is a cheapie ($175 aud) which I was tempted to take a gamble on, I get they will be governed by the compressor they are hooked up to...

Re: What welder to buy
So I’ve got some feedback, I’ve used my welder a heap, I love tig but I’m still learning heaps, I started aluminium tig last night, had to play with the settings and finally with turning up the frequency I had some luck. I hate the arc welder that’s built into it, I think it it might be the electrod...

Re: Building a fixture table
Hey guys, I’m after some guidance, I’ve made a stencil of my hole pattern to make base plates for vice, grinder, mag bender etc and want to get an opinion of how to transfer it to the material. Is it best to clamp it to the piece and just drill it out as a jig drill it out to the size of my punch so...

Awesome thanks, I used to work for ship builders and they always line heated the decks, never was involved so just feeling my way.
I’ll get the oxy from work and report back once it’s like corrugated iron

Re: Building a fixture table
Hey guys, I’ve got a slight warp in my table, I’ve been trying to lineheat it out but she isn’t moving, I’ve been using a small propane torch, I’m going to get the oxy from work and give that a try. Do you think I need to cut the top free so it can move? Or should it be able to push itself? It’s oh ...

Yeh I got it off a guy who seems to have an endless supply on Facebook marketplace, they only come in 2400 lengths so I’m guessing they are factory seconds cut up so they aren’t so noticeable they are stuffed

Re: Plasma Cutter vs Cold Saw
I wanted a bandsaw but it came down to where I would store it, the coldsaw is way more compact and I’m pretty happy with it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still bandsaw-curious

Re: Building a fixture table
So I had a play last night, I took a bit of bark off it and it fits better but still not great, the tube is not great as I said, I’m confident it’s not distortion due to heat, I tried it with a few off cuts, some fit some don’t and some you can just see they are out of square https://uploads.tapatal...

Re: Plasma Cutter vs Cold Saw
Also just some feedback, I’m still loving the cold saw, it’s so satisfying to use, I’m running it with beeswax and it has minimal clean up. I was impressed the other day, I wanted to cut 4 lengths of 40x40x3 all the same length so I clamped them Together and it cut thru all without even blinking Sen...
