Yeah Gal is a pain to weld. I used flux core MIG with splatter spray and found it helped a little. Best to use a grind or wire wheel to just take off the gal coating.

Very sorry for the lack of information. ShS is square hollow steel, basically box tube. I was gonna use 50mm x 50mm but unsure weather to use 1.6mm, 2mm, 3mm thick. When asking about the box like lid I wanted one of the steps to allow me access to under the steps. Was thinking of a hinged section I ...

Landscape platform steps

Hey guys, I am in the need to build some landscape platform steps which the frame I want steel. I need 4 steps the are 2000mm wide, 875mm deep and a rise of 140mm. I am was thinking of using 50x50x3 shs with joists every 450-500mm. Can anyone give me better engineering ideas. Having one of the steps...
